Watson Township reviews dry hydrant installation
The Watson Township Supervisors reviewed the installation of a dry hydrant during their meeting Wednesday evening.
The supervisors thanked property owner Hannah Fry for allowing the installation of a dry hydrant at her pond. The supervisors also acknowledged volunteers of the Cherry Grove Volunteer Fire Department, Jim Warner of Pleasant Township, Interstate Pipe and Supply of Titusville, and Wes Ramsey for their help with the hydrant.
The pond has been used by the fire departments for many years, according to township secretary Sandy Kick. A dry hydrant is a non-pressurized pipe system permanently installed in existing ponds, lakes or streams to provide a water supply by suction to a tank truck. Cherry Grove VFD has tested the dry hydrant, and it is working well.
In other business, the supervisors signed an agreement for one year with BIU, of Erie, to provide services in conjunction with the Pennsylvania Construction Code. BIU will provide building permits and inspections that fall under the code.
The supervisors also set aside Wednesday, Nov. 25 as a time to work on the 2010 proposed budget.
The next regular meeting of the supervisors is scheduled for Wednesday, Dec. 16.
