Last minute write-in campaigns for the Warren County School Board of Directors have made today's previously lackluster election a little more interesting.

In Region I, which encompasses the City of Warren and Elk and Glade Townships, voters will be asked to cast two votes. Paul Yourchisin and John Grant are on the ballot while John Pascuzzi has thrown his name into the mix with a write-in campaign.

In Region II, there will be two ballots. The first is for a four-year position on the school board. School board incumbent Kirsten Turfitt is the only choice on the ballot. However, write-in candidate Jack Werner is also vying for the spot.

On the second ballot, voters are asked to elect a person to take a two-year position on the school board. Incumbent Katherine Oudinot is only name on the ballot. But, just like the other Region II race, there is a write-in contender with Mary-Anne Paris.

Region II consists of Cherry Grove, Conewango, Deerfield, Eldred, Limestone, Mead, Sheffield and Pleasant townships and Clarendon Borough.

According to county election officials, write-in votes will be judged for acceptability and counted on Friday, Nov. 6.

The following county-wide races have no contention and no write-in candidates have been announced: Judge of the Court of Common Pleas, Prothonotary and Clerk of Courts, District Attorney and Warren County Coroner.

There are three statewide races for various judicial positions:

Supreme Court Justice: Democrat Jack Panella and Republican Joan Orie Melvin.

Judge of Superior Court: Democrat Robert Colville, Democrat Anne Lazarus, Republican Paula Ott, Libertarian Marakay Rodgers, Democrat Kevin McCarthy, Democrat Teresa Sarmina, Republican Judy Olson, Republican Sallie Mundy and Republican Temp Smith. Voters will be asked to choose four.

Judge of Commonwealth Court: Democrat Barbara Behrend Ernsberger, Democrat Linda Judson, Republican Kevin Brobson and Republican Patricia McCullough.

There are also two retention votes on the ballot. One to retain Judge Kate Ford Elliott for Superior Court and the other to retain Dan Pellegrini for Commonwealth Court.
