Win in bridge
Winners at Monday's duplicate bridge games at the YMCA were: Intermediate Game: Mary Russo and Barb Hourigan, first with 38.5; Phyllis Wilman and Virginia D'Andrea, second with 36; and Beth Howe and Carol Lake, third with 35.5. Open Game: Mark Pascale and June Borger, first with 28.5; Mary Conarro and Janet Templeton, second with 27.5; and Joyce Davis and Fred Martin Jr., third with 25.75. Women to meet
The Woman's Club of Warren will meet Monday, Nov. 2. Luncheon will be served.The featured speaker will be Dr James Spangler on how and why one should have a baby's eyes examined. Reservations must be made by noon on Friday, Oct. 30, by calling the club at 723-5910.
Movie Monday
Monday Night Movies at the Warren Public Library will continue Nov. 2. This event is free of charge and will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the Slater Room on the third floor of the library. Thanks to donations, complimentary popcorn will be available. This PG-13 rated 109 minute film stars Jamie Foxx, Robert Downey, Jr. and Catherine Keener. This biographical drama tells the true life story of musical prodigy Nathaniel Ayers. He dropped out of Julliard after developing schizophrenia and became a homeless musician on the streets of Los Angeles. A reporter looking for an article finds Ayers one day and develops a close relationship with the troubled but gifted artist. Call the library at 723-4650 for the exact title of this and other movies in this series as the library's movie license does not permit listing the titles of movies outside the library.
Country Christmas
A few spaces are still available for anyone interested in going to the Christmas in the Country Craft Show in Hamburg, N.Y., with Warren Senior Center, 800 Pennsylvania Ave. W. The van will leave the center at 8 a.m. Friday, Nov. 6, returning by 5 p.m. Call the center at 723-3237 for information or reservations, or call Margaret Sleeman at 723-7143.
To dance Nov. 6
The Chautauqua Squares will host a western-style square and round dance at 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 6, in the cafeteria at Southwestern Elementary School, Lakewood, N.Y. Slovenian Polka Boosters will dance from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 1, at St. Marys Moose. The Sun Rays with George Berasi of Weedville, Pa., will provide music. For information, call Paul Leofsky at 563-7516.
Harvest Carnival
Calvary Chapel, Rt. 62, Russell, will host a Fall Harvest Carnival from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 31, in the gymnasium. The free event will feature games, snacks and beverages, balloons and lots of fun. Costumes are optional. This is planned as a safe alternative to door-to-door trick or treating.
Halloween Walk
Glade Volunteer Fire Department will host a Halloween Walk from dusk until 10 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, Oct. 29-31, on Hatch Run Road across from the license center (just up from Warren Mall) The event will include hay rides, apple cider, hot dogs and hot chocolate.
Senior Expo Friday
Senior Expo will be held at Warren Mall from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, Oct 30. Health screening, independent living resources, and commercial vendors will be available throughout the mall.
