‘Celebration of Life’ Saturday
Learning, networking and a healthy life throuogh breast cancer research and education will be celebrated during the GROW For Life Celebration of Life - Breast Cancer Outreach on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the foundation's headquarters and at florists in the region. The main Warren County event will be held at the charity's headquarters, 3810 Market St., North Warren.
Associated Advisory Committee member Pat Slattery is coordinating the 2009 celebration.
"New this year is wig sharing and caring where participants bring in wigs, ask questions of the "experts" and let survivors know that after chemotherapy your hair does grow back," Slattery, a cancer survivor, said. "Wigs brought in will be directly shared and/or given to the local Cancer Care Center."
Participants also will be able to view CDs made during the foundation's Lilyfests and a montage of the Warren area's LilyFloat Flower Power Picnic. Participants are also encouraged to bring and share photos of their family, pets and/or travels.
Survivors, friends and families will receive breast cancer educational materials and support.
Those celebrating five, 10 or 20 years of being breast cancer free will get special recognition. Complimentary sponsor gifts will be presented, and there will be a silent donation auction of lily arrangements.
The Foundation's symbol is the lily, standing for strength, energy and love.
Helping to make the event possible is premier sponsor Teleflora, along with Pizza Hut, Bob Evans, Holiday Inn, Virg-Ann Flowers, Warren General Hospital, CNB Bank, Ekey Florist, Blair LLC, Whirley Industries, United Refining Co. and others.
