Arthur Ellis Atwell, 70, of 482 John Wesley Lane, Tionesta, Pa., passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, September 26, 2009 at his residence.
Mr. Atwell was born January 17, 1939, in Clarendon, the son of the late Everett and Florence Walter Atwell. Arthur was a life long carpenter and was a member the Carpenter's Local 1014. He served in the US Army in Korea from 1959-1962.
He was of the Methodist faith. He enjoyed geneolo-gy and was an avid reader. He was also a member of the North Star Lodge #241, Free and Accepted Masons, the Grotto, and a former Zem Zem. He was a former member and past president of the Sheffield Lions Club and the Sheffield Rod and Gun Club. He loved his family and spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by, his wife, Jane K. Simon Atwell, whom he married on Oc-tober 20, 1962; two sons, Aaron Atwell, Somerset, Pa., Ashley Atwell and his wife Bobbi, Barnes; two daughters, Holly Colvin and her husband David, Warren, and Shelia Atwell and her companion Ken, Ludlow; a sister, Ella Marie Blum and her husband Raymond, Clarendon; and a brother, Elton Atwell, Jacksonville, Fla; five grandchildren, Mackenzie Check, Noah Colvin, Wes-ley Atwell, Allyson Atwell, and Ireland Brusso.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Mel-vin and Harold Atwell; and three sisters, Evelyn Cross-ley, Twila Leichtenberger, and Esther Haight.
Friends may call at the Emanuel United Church of Christ, 1710 Pennsylvania Ave. E. on Wednesday, September 30, 2009 for one hour prior to a memorial service to be held there at 11 a.m. with Rev. Neil Siefert, pastor, Emanuel United Church of Christ, and the Rev. John Gerber, co- officiating.
Burial will be in the Starr Cemetery.
