ANDREW OKRUCH JR.

Andrew Okruch Jr., 94, formerly of Ludlow, died Friday, September 25, 2009, at the Lutheran Home at Kane.

Born November 25, 1914, in Sheffield, he was a son of Andrew and Kather-ine Piscor Okruch. On July 28, 1937, in Sheffield, he married Carlyna "Lena" Selini, who died September 1, 1999.

Mr. Okruch, who attend-ed Sheffield schools, had been employed by National Fuel Gas at the Roystone Station, serving in many positions and retiring as an Electrician B. Before that, he had worked at Dresser's in Bradford.

He served three years with the U.S. Army En-gineers and saw duty in the Asiatic Pacific Theater, re-ceiving the Philippine Li-beration Ribbon and served in the European African Middle Eastern Theater, re-ceiving a ribbon with two bronze service stars. He also was a recipient of a Purple Heart, WWII Victory Medal and the American Theater Ribbon in South Germany.

He was a member of St. Callistus Church and the Elks Lodge #329 in Kane. He also enjoyed hunting and bowling.

Surviving are three sons, Thomas Okruch of Ludlow, Edward Okruch of Russell and John Okruch of Gates-ville, Texas; eight grandchildren; ten great- grandchildren; a brother, Michael Okruch of Warren; and nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preced-ed in death by two sisters and four brothers.

Friends will be received in the gathering space at St. Callistus Catholic Church on Tuesday from 10 to 11 a.m., at which time a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by The Rev. Da-vid Wilson, pastor of Holy Rosary Church in Johnson-burg. Burial will be at St. Joseph's Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to the Luth-eran Home at Kane, 100 High Point Drive, Kane, PA 16735.
