The 50th King of Fishermen will be crowned this weekend during the Pennsylvania State Championship Fishing Tournament in Tidioute.
The First King of Fishermen was Marcel A Tourbot, of Vestaburg, PA. His catch consisted of four Bass, worth two point each in the finals to wear the crown and win the 22 inch trophy. Tourbot went on to enter the 1960 World Series of Sport Fishing tourney at Michigan.

Herb Wagner won the contest five times and next for wins was Darren Potts of West Hickory with three wins.
Who will be the 2009 Champion Angler of the Pennsylvania State Championship Fishing Tournament?
The crowning of Champion Anglers will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday and closing ceremonies at 3:30 p.m.
The carnival and grounds will open at 6 p.m. on Thursday and Friday and noon on Saturday and Sunday.
Several local organizations will have food booths such as the Methodist Church-Funnel Cakes, meatball subs and hot sausage subs; St John Catholic Church-French fries/curly fries. Different classes at the Charter school will have booths set up on the grounds and there will be games by several classes and organizations.

The Miss Tidioute Pageant started in 1973 by the Tidioute Lions Club and has been run by the former Tidioute Lioness Club, former Genesis Circle, then the Pennsylvania State Championship Fishing Tournament committee members.

Temporary closing
Tidioute True Value will be closed from Oct. 1 through Oct. 11 while some maintenance and modernization is completed.
Grand re-opening will be Monday, October 12.
2009 Miss Tidioute
Sasha Lewis, daughter of Scott and Sue Lewis won the title of "Miss Tidioute 2009." She also won the Best Essay and Miss Congeniality, on Saturday night at the Tidioute Community Charter School. Lewis sang a song by Breaking Heart.
Ashley Mitchum, daughter of Dave and Bonnie Mitchum, won First Runner Up and for her talent she sang a song by Taylor Swift.
Nicole Condron, daughter of Holly Condron, won the People's Choice Award and she displayed art and told a story about the art.
Alexis Morrison, daughter of Steve and Stephanie Morrison, did a dance routine, and Johnelle Fulkman, daughter of Jack and Barb Fulkman, wrote and read a poem.
Leaders needed
Tidioute Girl Scouts are looking for leaders. Leaders are needed for Brownies, Juniors, Cadets, Seniors and Ambassadors.
If you are willing to volunteer your time for these girls who range in grades second up to and include grade 12, please contact Jennifer at 723-4990.
CROP Walk
Tidioute will hold their annual CROP walk on Sunday, Oct. 11.
Walker information packets are located at the Presbyterian Church, First United Methodist and St. John Church.
Anyone wishing to walk can contact Mary Huntington to obtain a pledge envelope if you don't find any at the local churches. Then you need to obtain sponsors and collect the money which will go to help the hungry and 25 percent of what is collected will stay here in Tidioute.
Lions Club
Members of the Tidioute Lions Club and their guests gathered at the Tionesta Light House for a tour conducted by Bob and Bill Wallace, both members of the Tionesta Lions Club.
Those who wished to do so could walk up the 75 steps to the very top and then walk around the outer ledge at the top. Then there was the eleven steps to the lower level. What an amazing sight to see.
The view was beautiful as you could see a good stretch of the Allegheny River.
Following the tour the members and their guests had dinner at the Sky Jet Restaurant in Tionesta.
The Tidioute Lions Club members will be selling 50/50 tickets at the fishing tournament and have the wheel. Workers are needed, if you can help please contact Carmen Fedele or Mike Cassese.
Secretary Betty Marshall reported that the Tidioute Lions Club members spent 184 hours doing Community Service for the past month, this was done in the form of recycling and volunteering their time in the community.
White Cane days will be October 23 and 24th, Help the Lions, Help the Blind. Please be sure to donate when you see them out.
Work is being done on Beacon Lodge in Mt. Union. Beacon Lodge is a camp for blind children that the Lions Club operates, and funds are needed for the repairs.
The next dinner meeting will be at Coal Oil Johnny's in Pleasantville on Oct. 20.
Tidioute Health
Dental Center
A meeting was held on Monday with committee members, TAHD Center board members, representatives from Warren General Hospital and Joe Wagner of Larson Architect.
Things are coming along quite well. Bids for the building should be ready to send out within the next 4-5 weeks.
We have not met our financial goals at this time and are still looking for donations. Your support is greatly appreciated.

The committee realizes that this will be great asset to our community.
Having a full time doctor, pharmacist and dentist in Tidioute is something that has been needed for a long time and is not that far off now thanks to the hard work of the committee people who are doing everything they can to make this a reality.
Funnel Cake Booth
Tidioute First United Methodist Church members will have their funnel cake booth open during the fishing tournament festivities and will also be selling hot sausage sandwiches and meatball subs.
Workers are needed for Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Presbyterian Church
Services
There will be no Sunday School Classes or Worship Services at the Tidioute Presbyterian Church on Sunday, Oct. 4 due to a previously scheduled World Wide Communion Service at the Irvine Presbyterian Church.
The service begins at 10:30 a.m.
Sunday School classes will resume on Oct. 11 at 9:45 a.m. with the Worship Services to follow at 11 a.m.
The church officers hope that no one will be inconvenienced with this.
Announcements have been placed in the bulletin the last few weeks.
Flu shots
Tidioute residents can get the flu shot on Monday, Oct. 5.
Tidioute Towers will be the site from 1 p.m. to 1:30 p.m., then the Tidioute Senior Center from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m.
They will bill your Medicare Part B and for those with no insurance the cost will be $30.
Pot Luck/Game Night
There will be a tureen pot luck dinner at the Tidioute First United Methodist Church beginning at 5:30 p.m.
Games will follow.
Please bring your favorite dish to pass, table service and your favorite game.
Celebration Is Here
It's finally here, the 50th anniversary of the PA State Championship Fishing Tournament.
Wednesday, September 23 will be a band concert with the Tidioute Community Charter School band, choir, and guitar group held in Picture Show Park.
Thursday, September 24 will be the Pet Parade.
Registration will be in front of the firehall from 6p.m. to 6:45p.m.
The Pet Parade will commence down Main ST to the tournament grounds at 7p.m. sharp.
All pets must be on a leash or otherwise managed by their owners.
Any participants 10 years old or under must have an adult with them. Please be prepared to clean up after your pet.
Bingo begins on Thursday, September 24 at 6p.m. and will run till 9p.m. at 117 Main ST., which is the old pharmacy building.
Friday's hours are 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. as well and Saturday will be from 2 p.m. till 7 p.m.
Tionesta Marine and Weigel Bros. Marine of Franklin, PA will have their boats on display Saturday as well as Sunday from 10 a.m. till 2p.m. at the corner of Main and Buckingham Streets.
The Fishermen's Flea Market will be held at 10 a.m. to 2p.m. on Sunday next to the boat show. Weigel Bros. will be available at the Flea Market with several boat accessories.
Also, the Marine Technology Equipment Class from the Warren County Career Center will hold seminars on "How To Winterize You Boat" at 11a.m. and again at 1p.m.
Boat motor oil for various boat types will be available on Friday evening and Sunday at the show location along with the commemorative decals.

KofC
Members of the Tidioute Knights of Columbus Council #9304 will be selling tickets for the Stihl Model 290 Chainsaw with a 16-inch blade.
Tickets are $2 each or 3 tickets for $5 they will be on tournament grounds this weekend, drawing will be on Sunday, September 27.
Ladies Guild
Ladies Guild members of St. John Church are selling tickets for a 50/50 drawing for $1 each or 3 tickets for $2.
They will be down on tournament grounds selling tickets and the drawing will be Sunday.
Door prize tickets
The Pennsylvania State Champion Fishing Tournament will be selling the door prize tickets in their tent in front of the Grand Stands. Tickets are $1 each and drawings will be at 8 p.m. Saturday night and you must be present to claim your prize and a mug.
Grand Prize tickets
Tickets are on sale for the grand prizes for this years tournament.
First prize is for $500 and second place prize is for on package of $1 PA instant lottery tickets.
Cost is $1 each and the winner need not be present to win these prizes.

Picture Day
Today is picture day at TCCS.
TCCS Band,
guitar students
The TCCS Band, choir and guitar students will be playing a concert at Picture Show Park across from the True Value on today at 6:30 p.m. Bring your own lawn chair and enjoy the music. In case of rain the concert will be held at the Charter School. The TCCS Band will also be marching in the Fishing Tournament parade on Saturday. Parents are needed to volunteer to help with uniforms for these events. Please contact Vicki McLaughlin or the school for more information.
FLC Basket Raffle
The Foreign Language Club will be selling tickets for a fishing themed cooler filled with fishing and camping treasures. The cost is .50 per ticket. The drawing will take place on Sunday during the Fishing Tournament.
Port Farms Field Trip
Students in grades 1-3 will once again be going to Port Farms in Waterford on Thursday Oct. 1. The children will learn about life on a farm through hands on activities. They will have the opportunity to go on a scavenger hunt through the corn maze and take a hay wagon ride through the fields to the pumpkin patch to pick their own pie pumpkin
TCCS Open House
The Tidioute Community Charter School annual open house will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 7, from 6 to 8 p.m. Along with meeting with your child's teacher, parents and community members can attend the Scholastic Book Fair and enjoy refreshments in the cafeteria.
Book Fair
The Scholastic Book Fair will be held Tuesday through Friday, Oct. 6-9 in the school library with the theme "Read Around the World". Students will have the opportunity to purchase high quality books at reasonable prices.
Shoppers can help add books to our classroom shelves by purchasing books and donating them to your child's class.
Information will come home with the students on the dates and times they will be attending the fair.
Fall Fundraiser
The Club's Choice fall fundraiser sponsored by the Student Activities Committee will kick off on Friday Oct. 9. All money raised goes towards student activities for the year. Money raised over the last four years has gone towards the field trips to Waldameer, the Erie Zoo and Kennywood, and the running of the student store, the purchase of the school's laminator, and the Christmas hop and Dr. Seuss family events, among others.

The Student Activities Committee will meet on Tuesday October 13th at 6:30 pm in the library. All parents are welcome and encouraged to attend.
Pizza Hut Fundraiser
The Boy's High School Basketball team will hold their Pizza Hut fundraiser at the Titusville Pizza Hut on Oct. 22 from 5-7 pm.
Chess Club
Any students in grades 7-12 interested in joining the chess club may sign up in Mr. McDowell's room.
Venture Crew
The Venture Crew, an outdoor club for students in high school at TCCS, is planning a lot of fun and exciting events for this school year. Planned events include canoeing, adventure course, camping, cave exploration, and more. Registration is $15, and forms may be picked up from Mr. McDowell or Mr. Fratrich.
Decathlon
The Tidioute Community Charter School will be the site of the Pennsylvania State Tournament of the National Science Decathlon on Saturday, Nov. 21, beginning at 9 a.m.
Students will compete in teams of 4 to 5 students. Events include robotics, chemistry, model airplanes, water rockets, topographic maps, and more. Interested students should see Mr. McDowell or Miss Fisher. This event is free and open to the public. Lunch will be available. Parent and Community volunteers are still needed for this event.
