Warren
Charged. Steven Varous, 42, 16429 Horseshoe Rd., Saegertown, was taken into custody by Warren City police at 12:12 a.m. Thursday after an officer saw him drive his Jeep Wrangler off of Pennsylvania Avenue W. and onto the sidewalk in front of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church. Police said Varous was charged with DUI general impairment, DUI high rate of alcohol, driving on roadways laned for traffic, and driving on sidewalk.
Charged. Brenda Knisley, 32, of 229 Pennsylvania Ave. W., Apt. 3, was taken into custody by Warren City police on a warrant on Sept. 1. According to police, Knisley moved into an empty apartment in the building with the consent or knowledge of the owner, deprived the owner of rent money and obtained free utilities. Police said she was charged with criminal trespass, burglary and theft by deception. Police said Knisley was committed to the Warren County Jail after she failed to post bail at her preliminary arraignment.
Conewango Twp.
Theft. According to Warren-based state police, at 11:45 a.m. on Aug. 11 the assistant manager of Kay Jewelers reported the theft of a diamond ring valued at $930. After an investigation into the theft, Faye M. Williams, 45, 109 Oak St., Warren, was charged with the theft of the ring and receiving stolen property, police said. Further court action is pending, police said.
Theft. According to Conewango Township police, Linda Martin of North Warren reported that between 4:30 and 4:45 p.m.Wednesday, someone stole her purse in the parking lot of Wal-Mart. Police said the purse was left unattended for a very short period of time. Anyone who may have witnessed the theft is asked to contact the township police.
Harassment. Warren-based state police reported that 9:10 p.m. Wednesday at Warren State Hospital, Nevin P. Miller, 43, punched Todd B. Patterson, 54, with a closed fist in the mouth. Police said Miller also spit on Patterson. Miller was charged with harassment and further action is pending, police said.
Pittsfield Twp.
Crash. Warren-based state police reported Alfred W. Thacker, 63, Clarendon was traveling east on Rt. 6 near the PennDOT shed and crossed the center line, striking a log truck operated by Craig E. McDowell, 24, Grove City, at 12:49 p.m. on Sept. 15. Police said both individuals were wearing seatbelts and were not injured. Police said charges are pending against Thacker.
Sugar Grove Twp.
Crash. Warren-based state police reported Michael Thomas Jewart, 48, Youngsville, was traveling south on Route 69 when he struck a dear with his motorcycle at 11:50 p.m. on Sept. 16. Police reported he was flown by Life Star to Hamot Medical Center, Erie, for treatment of injuries. Police reported he was wearing a helmet and the investigation continues.
Youngsville
Theft. Elmer Fry, 37 W. Main St., Apt. A, reported to Youngsville Borough police that sometime Aug. 30 and 31 someone took checks and a wedding ring from his unlocked vehicle that was parked in front of his residence.
Theft. Tammy Lindeman, 44, of 37 W. Main St., Apt. C, reported to Youngsville Borough police that someone took her prescribed Darvocet medication from her apartment sometime over the weekend.
