Beautification committee plans for fall
The Pine Grove Beautification Committee held a fall planning meeting on Sept. 10.
Donations were received from Pine Grove Lions Club; 4L's Club for a memorial brick for Dory Spicer; from Cindy Strausser in memory of Steven Harris and Anne Sherman; Ray Shield and family in memory of Steven Harris; and Ann Swanson for a memorial brick for Gladys Swanson.
The areas that were planted and tended this summer were Larimer Park planter, Memorial Park, the four planters in Russell, the gazebo, the Welcome to Pine Grove sign area and the Akeley turn off. In the Pine Grove cemetery the areas are millstone area, cemetery sign , urn, flagpole and the civil war area. The begonias and petunias did very well this year . Workbees were held, weather permitting.
President Evelyn Harris is currently working with two area churches that involves memorial plantings.
Thank you notes were received from Chatam University and from Bill Mallinson for memorials given for Anne Putnam Mallinson.
New Christmas banners will be ordered in October and placed before the Christmas season.
