James Scott "Beetle" Bailey, 26, of Cardiff by the Sea, Calif. and formerly of the Stoneham/Tiona area, died Sept. 3 due to a motorcycle accident in San Diego, Calif.

He was born Sept. 26, 1982 at the Pax River N.A.S., Maryland, to Robert James Bailey, Stoneham and Charlene Wendell Bailey Powers, Byron, Ga.

He was a 2001 graduate of Sheffield High School where he played football and wrestled.

He worked for S.O.C. Private Security. He did one tour in the Green Zone in Iraq and was preparing to leave for Iraq or Africa. He served two tours in Faluja, Iraq as a member of the Marine Corps.

He is survived by two stepbrothers, Tyrel and Jessie Greenhalgh; one stepsister, Scotlyn Greenhalgh; several aunts and uncles, Michele Bailey, US Navy, Clarendon Heights; Susan Bailey, Russell; Rick Bailey, Saybrook; Eric and Tiammy Bailey, Greensburg, Pa.; Bob and Christine Young, Clarendon; and Tom and Debi Young, Anaheim, Calif.; several stepuncles and aunts, Royce and Heather Smith, Erie, and Lou and Karen Chido, Warren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Jachery Bailey; one sister, Jennifer Bailey; and maternal grandparents, Charles Wendell and Margie Schaffer.

Calling hours will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 12 at the BordenLloyd Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at Chapman State Park Amphitheater at 2:30 p.m. on Sept. 12.

Memorial donations may be made to the Marine Corps League Toys for Tots, Sheffield or Clarendon VFW scholarship fund and any fire department of choice.
