Kathleen B. Blackman, formerly of Warren, has been named to the president's list at the University of South Carolina-Beaufort, for the May/summer term. Students receive this distinction by maintaining a 4.0 average. Blackman is interning with Senior Services of Beaufort County and performing an independent study at USCB Psychology Research Lab in the field of behavioral cues in eyewitness testimony. She resides in Bluffton, S.C., with her daughter, Anne.

Leah M. Campbell of Warren will attend the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine (LECOM) in Erie this fall. She is the daughter of Loren and Beth Campbell and is a graduate of Warren Area High School and Gannon University, Erie.

Kristi R. California of Warren has been named to the dean's list at Pennsylvania College of Technology, Williamsport. She is working toward a bachelor of science degree in physician assistant.

Jo Alspaugh of Russell will begin pursuing her J.D. degree as a member of the 2012 class at Case Western Reserve University School of Law in Cleveland, Ohio, this fall. Alspaugh graduated summa cum laude from Mercyhurst College with a bachelor of arts degree. She earned a dual degree in dance performance and world languages and cultures with a concentration in French and Spanish. She also will be performing with Ballet Theatre of Ohio during the 2009-2010 season. Alspaugh danced with the 2008 Albany-Berkshire Ballet Company that performed the Nutcracker in several cities in New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts and New York. She is a 2004 graduate of Eisenhower High School and is the daughter of George and Linda Alspaugh.

Colby Daniel Case, son of Tim and Tami Case of Youngsville, has been accepted to the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford for the fall term 2009. Case is a graduate of Youngsville High School where he was active in math club and science club. He also was a member of the high school trap and bowling teams. He plans to major in accounting.
