FISHKILL, N.Y. - Two of the New York-Penn Baseball League's most anemic offenses hooked up Monday and for over 11 innings, the game was everything fans expected it to be.
After playing 0-0 baseball for 11 innings, the Jamestown Jammers lit up the Auburn Doubledays for four runs in the top of the 12th inning during a ?-? victory in Fishkill, N.Y.
Jammers starter Erick Carillo allowed just one hit in seven innings for Jamestown (29-39) but Auburn starter Matthew Wright was equally impressive allowing just two hits during five innings of his own.
As both teams stumbled into the 12th inning, the ballgame between the bottom two teams of the NYPL Picnkney Division had featured more strikeouts than hits - 14 to seven.
However, in the 12th Jamestown was able to break the deadlock by finally stringing some hits together. Jose Torres and Erik Kanaby singled to start things off and both runners advanced on a sacrifice bunt off the bat of Austin Markel.
After a Doubledays intentional walk loaded the bases, Chase Austin reached on an error by the Auburn third baseman that allowed two runners to score. The Jammers would later add a third and fourth run after a two-RBI hit by Ricky Orton.
Closer Ajejandro Ramos struck out the side in order in the bottom of the 12th to close out the game.
Jamestown returns to the field Tuesday when it again visits Auburn.
