Youth Champions named
The 4-H program in Warren County is pleased to announce the winners of the 2008-2009 Champion Youth Project Award. This year's winners include Mitchell Bauer of Corry for dairy, Tyler Eckman of Russell for swine and Katelyn Maille of Pittsfield for horse. This is Tyler Eckman's second year in a row to receive top honors in the swine category. In addition to the species winners, Sydni Miller of Russell was also recognized for her efforts in the rabbit category of the Champion Youth Project Award. Sydni received a gift certificate to Youngsville Home and Garden for her participation.
The Champion Youth Project Award recognizes Warren County 4-H members who have shown outstanding knowledge in the animal science projects offered by 4-H. The award places more emphasis on the knowledge being obtained by the members and less on the type of animal being shown.
The winners were announced during the Warren County Fair. All three Champion Youth Project Award winners received 4-H plaques and money. In addition members will receive 4-H sweatshirts during the Rotary 4-H Achievement Night scheduled for Nov. 12.
Sponsors included D-n-L Enos Milling and the law firm of Swanson, Bevevino & Gilford P.C.
4-H is a youth development program of Penn State Cooperative Extension. It is open to all youth between the ages of 8 and 19.
