John (Jack) and Joyce (Reynolds) Mangini of 4 Stephen Rd., Warren, celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary on Aug. 17, 2008, with a picnic hosted by their children and held at the home of their daughter on Hemlock Raod. It was a beautiful day with 48 family members and friends attending. Those attending enjoyed visiting, reminiscing and partaking in a toast to the couple using 25-year-old whiskey. Lively and enjoyable accordion music was provided by son-in-law John Miceli, who played some unique and delightful tunes.
The couple was married in First United Methodist Church, Warren, on Aug. 1, 1953. Tony and Betty Mangini were best man and maid of honor. Their honeymoon was taken in Washington, D.C.
Joyce worked at Sylvania and then at Warren State Hospital as a psychiatirc aide and retired in 1991 after 25 years of service. She enjoys spending time with her famiy and preparing for family reunions. John served in the U.S. Marine Corps and worked for Warren State Hospical as a plumbing and heating department supervisor, retiring in 1990 after 20 years of service. He enjoys spending time with family, bicycling and working on hit-and-miss engines with his son, Peter.
They have four children, Gloria Burns, Warren; Polly Miceli and husband, John, Fredonia, N.Y.; Wendy Mangini Carlson and husband, Tom, Warren; and Peter Mangini and wife, Gina, Warren; seven grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
