WILLIAMSPORT - It was another tough night for the Jamestown Jammers - offense in particular - as the Jammers fell deeper into the New York-Penn League Pinckney Division cellar with a 4-1 loss to the Williamsport Crosscutters.
Jamestown recorded just three hits over the first five innings and watched its best opportunity to score end without a run. In the fifth, Robert Taylor and Chris Wade singled before a out-out walk from Erik Kanaby loaded the bases.
However, Jamestown's next two batters - Nate Simon and Sequoyah Stonecipher - struck out and popped out respectively ending the threat.
The Jammers' most consistent starter Sage Rosario pitched five shutout innings before running into trouble in the sixth. Lenadro Castro singled and scored on a triple from Sebastian Valle.
Valle then scored on a single by Darin Ruf and Ruf scored on an error by Jamestown second baseman Simon.
Jamestown's lone run of the game was in the seventh when Rand Smith brought home Kanaby with a basehit.
That was as close as Jamestown would get as Williamsport extended the lead to three in the eighth when Jammers reliever Guery Ramirez plunked Carl Uhl with the bases loaded.
The Jammers will hope for better luck on Wednesday when they open a two-game set with State College.
