The ASCS Patriot Sprints are back at Stateline Speedway
By GLENN SLOCUM Contributing WriterThe Bear Lake Inn will be sponsoring the second visit by the American Sprint Car Series Patriot Sprints to Stateline Speedway this season.
The Patriots first show was rained out but they returned one week later and Salamanca, N.Y.'s Jared Zimbardi notched his fist Stateline win and grabbed the ASCS Patriot point lead.
The super-fast winged race cars will be running along with the regular divisions.
Last week's Super Late Model win by Corry's Doug Eck allowed him to move within a few points of fifth-running Chris Hackett, Corry. Andy Boozel, Clymer, N.Y., remained in fourth and Rod Malloy, Panama, N.Y., slipped to third as Scott Gurdak took over the runner-up spot. Warren's Chad Valone is still the point leader.
Lakewood, N.Y.'s Chad Carlson won both the Outlaw Cadet King of the Hill and the Jed Lyon Memorial, taking over the number-two spot in the point standings. Veteran Mike Moore finished second in both events and still leads the points.
Justin Carlson, Sherman, N.Y., extended his lead in the E-Mod division, finishing fourth last week, while second-place holder Mike Munsee, Corry, finished 17th. Corry's Dave Lyon won the feature event.
Sherman, N.Y.'s Ben Burgess Jr. broke into the Super Sportsman winners column last week, but John Boardman, Jamestown, N.Y., still dominates in the point standings.
Stan Davis Jr., Jamestown, N.Y., held onto the Spectator lead but Mike Moon, Brocton, N.Y., trails by just 22 points and rookie Damian Bidwell, Eldred, is third.
Garland's Bobby Rouche has a slim six-point lead over Jamestown, N.Y.'s Aaron Liberati in the Super Challengers.
Tabetha Houser, North East, is the Lady Challenger leader.
