Price of gas

POSTED: July 21, 2009

Dear Editor,

My wife and I went to Weedville, PA approx. 60 mi. from Warren. When we arrived the first thing we saw was a Keystone gas station. We stopped and filled up at $2.43 a gal., while here in Warren it was $2.54 a gal. Why are we asked to pay 14 cents a gal. more, and it is made here?

I'd like to stay and play malachy, but I have brokers who need a new Porsche.

"than a greedy snop who sees everything as SIMPLE."

The only thing SIMPLE is understanding how the world works. I can only imagine it takes a lot more brainpower to ignore all that is true and replace it with your wishful desires of Utopia. Your tiresome arguments have been rehashed over and over, to save those of us with lives the trouble, I highly suggest you go to Youtube and watch videos from the renowned economist Milton Friedman. The ones were he squashes the 70s-era hippie audience member spouting the same tripe as you are really great.

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to get back to Capitalism, where individuals working in their own self interest created the most advanced, wealthy, free, and stable society ever created.

Morrison, you are nothing, I mean nothing, but an arrogant snop who thinks and really believes he knows all the answers. You are probably one of the elitist who has gotten rich off of Warren oil.

Pretty soon ol Morrison, the fascist, repreeenting the rich will have us giving donations to the oil interests there.

And always these types have people likie danya following along in their guilt at having bilked the common man all of their uu natural lives.

I would rather be a liberal and trying to give some aid and comfort to persons who were less fortunate than I, than a greedy snop who sees everything as SIMPLE. The only thing simple is how simple they are

"Close the refinery! Get that pollution out of here! Send their taxes with them."

Great point. It reminds me of a PSA (of all things) for giving blood, where an obvious bleeding-heart is concerned because there are wrongs in the world, he or she goes out to correct it, and ends up making everything worse, ad infinitum. It ends with "Saving the world is hard, saving a life isn't..." or something. But it sure epitomizes the simple "mind"set of the modern liberal, if I'm even feeling generous to call it that.

BP and Shell don't have to join united stations in price. Sheetz doesn't. That's why the prices are lower where you have that kind of willing competition. Any non-united station in Warren is free to lower their price. They'd rather make the money. It's illegal for united to penalize them.

what competition, kwik fill country fair and keystone are all owned by united All that's left is BP and shell. Guess where they get their gas from.

Close the refinery! Get that pollution out of here! Send their taxes with them. See what difference it makes in gas prices, and your own taxes.

It's competition, people. That Keystone is not the only station with that price. Get competition willing to lower, and they follow. If not, you pay. You will always be charged what you will tolerate. It's that simple.

You people just now figure this out? :) We get to pay for their fines for not being within codes.

Hey, I was in Erie over the weekend and gas there is in the $2.45 range. I think they are still in Pa. and they get the gas from the same tankers that fill the stations here. So, the further you go away from Warren, where it is made, it is cheaper, yeah, that makes perfect sense. And in the cost of the cheaper gas is the cost of the truck taking it there...the new math.

Yeah, Ohio has less gas tax. Not as good as Ga or SC, but good for up North.

Great, then drive 25mi north to Jamestown and pay another 20 cents a gallon. Everything's relative.
