A former Warren County man was shot six times by his wife Monday afternoon.

Ryan C. Clark, 31, of Linden, N.C., who was raised in Sugar Grove and attended Eisenhower High School, was listed in good condition on Wednesday at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville, N.C.

He is the son of Gayle Kenney of Youngsville, and the late Cliff Clark, according to a family member.

Clark is serving in the U.S. Army at Fort Bragg, according to the relative. He had just returned from a tour of duty in Iraq, according to WTVD's website. Attempts to determine his rank and unit were unsuccessful.

According to a report in the Fayetteville Observer, he was shot in the back, neck and stomach at his residence.

He was in critical condition when he was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center where he underwent surgery on Monday.

"We arrived on scene there. We found there had been one male person who had been shot and there was a female that was in the house as well. We also learned that this was a married couple and that the shooting was the result of a domestic dispute," Cumberland County Sheriff's Office spokesperson Debbie Tanna told WTVD.

Amanda Clark, 27, was arrested Tuesday and has been charged by the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office with attempted first degree murder and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill - inflicting serious injury.

The shooting reportedly followed an argument.

Police said Amanda Clark is being held in the Cumberland County Detention Center without bond.
