Jammers’ win streak ends

July 2, 2009
The Times Observer

JAMESTOWN, N.Y. - It took a week to get it done, but Jamestown couldn't save itself from a loss to Batavia as the Muckdogs defeated the Jammers, 7-2, Thursday in the completion of a game suspended a Thursday ago.

The game picked up in the fourth inning with the Muckdogs holding a 5-1 advantage and the contest remained that way until the eighth inning when the Muckdogs added a pair of insurance runs to their already large lead.

Jamestown finally pushed across a run in the bottom of the ninth when a Jose Torres single knocked in Sequoyah Stonecipher. However, the next Jammers batter Erik Kanaby was called out on strikes and Jamestown saw its three-game winning streak come to a close.

Jamestown didn't have to wait long for its chance to turn things around as it welcomed Batavia in a regularly scheduled contest that got underway just after 9 p.m.

The game was not completed in time to be included in this edition of the Times Observer.

The Jammers (5-8) return to Batavia on Friday.

Batavia 122 000 020 - 7 10 0

Jamestown 010 000 001 - 2 9 1

2b-Erik Zanaby (J), Zach Moore (J). HR-Ivan Castro (B). WP-Michael Blaczek. LP-Blake Brewer.
