Joyce L. Peterson, 80, of Chandlers Valley passed away on June 30, 2009 at her home. she was born Dec. 8, 1928 in Warren, daughter of the late Gerald and Catherine York. She was raised on Yankee Bush and graduated from Warren High School in 1946.

From 1946 to 1949 she was employed by Bell Telephone and then later was manager of the Sugar Grove cafeteria from 19601985. She lived a full and active life and loved spending time with her family. she had many interests including gardening, cooking, and crocheting. She was a long time member of the Hessel Valley Lutheran Church and in earlier years was involved in various programs.

She is survived by her husband John Wallace "Wally" Peterson whom she married on June 2, 1949; two sons: John and wife Glenna of Tanzania, East Africa, Mark of Chandlers Valley; three grandchildren: Jory Peterson, Kiley (Peterson) Wiltsie, Ashley (Peterson) Spencer; two great grandchildren: Ava Peterson and Ella Wiltsie.

A memorial service will be held at the Hessel Valley Lutheran Church Friday, July 3, 2009 beginning at 4:00 p.m. Burial will be at the Hessel Valley Lutheran Cemetery.
