Conewango OKs renovation bids

POSTED: June 23, 2009

The Conewango Township Supervisors unanimously approved bids totalling slightly more than $124,000 for improvements to the township building during their meeting Monday evening.

The supervisors approved bids for general construction, electrical construction and a mechanical contract for the project. The renovations were designed by Jeff Zariczny of Inscale Architects in Warren.

Pending architect approval, a bid for $105, 598 by Frameworx General Contractors of Guys Mills, Pa., was accepted for general construction, a bid for $5,796 by Cox and Kanyuck Electric, also of Guys Mills, was accepted for electrical construction and a bid for $12,750 by A&B Heating and Sheet Metal of Warren was accepted for a mechanical contract. According to Supervisor Linda Swanson, the improvements will make the building at 4 Fireman Street "more energy efficient." The township's police department is also housed in the building.

The project involves updating the exterior of the building, insulating the shell of the building and providing heating, ventilation and air conditioning equipment to increase energy efficiency.

The entrances of the building will be sheltered and architecturally improved.

Supervisor Charles Barone said the project will begin very shortly and be completed before winter.

Funding for the project will come from the township's budget. The idea of building a new structure was a possibility, but Swanson said the supervisors could not find an appropriate location to build.

In other business, the supervisors voted to pay bills totaling approximately $34,000.

The supervisors meet at the township building the second and fourth Monday of each month at 7 p.m.
