Area senior centers plan busy week

Lunches:

Area Agency on Aging will serve the following menu at Conewango Towers, Warren Senior Center and Warren Senior Community Center June 15-19: Monday, hamburger gravy; Tuesday, chicken tenders; Wednesday, hot turkey sandwich; Thursday, spaghetti; and Friday, fish. Eligible participants must be 60 or older. Suggested donation is $3. Call 723-3763 for information regarding congregate meal sights and center locations.

Plans for the long-awaited boat trip have been completed. Participants will go to the Finger Lakes Region of New York. Lunch will b e at Esperanza Mansion, and then the entourage will board the Esperanza Rose for a two-hour boat trip on July 21. Deadline to sign up is July 1.

A January 4-14 trip is being planned to Hawaii, with a stop in Las Vegas. This 10-day, nine-night trip includes airfare and more. Call for a brochure. Deadline to sign up will be Oct. 1.

Spaghetti and meatballs will be served from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. on June 23. Take-outs will be available, and tickets can be purchased in advance from any senior.

Another spa day is scheduled for Saturday, June 13, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. with a light lunch served. Services will include Reike, facials and massage; very relaxing.

An AARP Safe Driving Renewal course will be offered at the Community Center on June 16, Tuesday, from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. with certified instructor, Al Harrison. Cost is $12 for AARP members and $14 for non-members. Call 723-4180 to sign up.

June's big trip is to Pittsburgh Aviary, home to more than 600 feathered friends from penguins to parrots, then on to Station Square for shopping and lunch. The Gateway Clipper will navigate along the three rivers with narration about the Pittsburgh riverfront.

Seneca Allegheny Casino trip will be Wednesday, June 24. Bus will leave former Quality Markets in North Warren at 9 a.m.

Not too early to sign up for Chautauqua Institute concerts. This year features Josh Turner on July 10, Englebert Humperdink on Aug. 7, Sara Evans on Aug. 28. Depart from the Center at 5 p.m. with dinner on the grounds. Call the center to make your reservations. Pick up also will be at Sugar Grove Methodist Church.

A trip to view fall foliage Letchworth with lunch at Glen Iris is planned for Friday, Sept. 25. The cost is $50 which includes lunch. Seating is limited.

Pennsylvania Grand Canyon, train ride through Tioga County and lunch at the Penns Wells Inn is scheduled for October 9. Seating is limited

Free glaucoma screening on Wednesday from 10 - noon. Carole Gelnette from Vision & Blindness Resource Center will conduct free screenings for seniors. Sign up when you arrive at Center.

Make It - Bake It on Thursday at 11 a.m. Anne Higgins will show us how to make Hot Appetizer Pie. Taste test included!
