The women's association of the Tidioute Presbyterian Church will meet on Thursday at the Tidioute Senior Center for a meeting at 10 a.m. and then stay for lunch.
All members are asked to attend.
Entertainment
An evenings' entertainment can be had for a song, literally, on Saturday, June 20 at the First Presbyterian Church in Tidioute.
At 7:30 p.m., the choir will present the concert "In Praise Of God," which is a medley of their favorite songs.
There will be free-will offering.
Grill Raffle
Tidioute Senior Center members are selling tickets on a propane grill with a 20-pound tank. Tickets are on sale for $1.00 each and the drawing will take place on July 2 at the senior center.
Winner need not be present to win.
Flag burning
ceremony
V.F.W. Post 8803 in conjunction with the Ladies Auxiliary of Post 8803 will hold a Flag Burning Ceremony on Monday, June 15, at 10 a.m.
The ceremony will take place in the Post 8803 parking lot.
This is open to the public.
Anyone who has a flag to be disposed of will find boxes at the Tidioute Trading Post, Tidioute True Value Hardware, Polly's Market and VFW Post 8803.
June 14 is Flag Day; please display your flag with Pride.
Dinner
Ladies Auxiliary members of the VFW Post 8803 are planning their annual get together dinner for June 22.
Dinner will be at the Tippy Canoe Inn on Route 62 south of Tidioute.
Happy hour will start at 5 p.m. and dinner will be served at 6 p.m.
All members in good standing are welcome. Sign up sheet behind the bar.
A deposit of $10 is required on signup. List your preference of meal when signing up.
If you wish to attend you must sign up by June 13.
Jackie Edmiston is the chairperson for this dinner.
KofC
Council of the Saints #9304 of Tidioute announced new officers for the Fraternal year July 1, 2009 to June 30, 2010.
The officers are Grand Knight Howard Klingenberg, Chaplain Fr. James Reardon, Deputy Grand Knight Daniel McLaughlin, Chancellor Robert Schwab, Recorder James Kristobak and Treasurer Michael Heenan.
Other officers named are Financial Secretary Gary Koech, Advocate Robert Sofranko, Warden Michael Sofranko, and Guards James Horwood and Gerald Svitek.
The Knights of Columbus is a Catholic member family service organization.
Western Festival
drawing
Tidioute Western Festival will be holding a drawing on July 4 at 4 p.m. on the Festival Grounds.
First Place will receive $500 Second Place winner will win $300 and Third Place will win $200.
Winner need not be present to win.
Tickets are $2 each or 3 for $5.
Graduation
at TCCS
Friday evening was an exciting day for the 31 students who graduated at Tidioute Community Charter School.
Class members included Ginger Battko, Shawn Benson, Sadie Billingslea, Johnathan Brown, Nathan Brown, James Buckley, Brooke Campisano, Stephen Craig, Colin Herrick, Michael Hillard, Sierra Hollabaugh, Haakon Hooker, Laura Irwin, Bryiar Kemery, Cody Kysor, Clarissa Myers, Nash Nester, Breean Robl, Derek Rodgers, Samantha Rodgers, Kaitlon Silvis, Daryl Simons, Cassandra Snyder, Jacob Taylor, Jacob Vincent, Rayne Watters, Melanie Wiler, Lita Wolford, John Seller.
Class Valedictorian was Stephen Craig. Salutatorian was Clarissa Myers, and Historian was Cody Kysor.
Class President was Kaitlon Silvis, Vice President Lita Wolford, Secretary Daryl Simons, and Treasurer Clarissa Myers.
Ushers were Sasha Lewis and Karissa McKown, Junior Class Representatives. Greeters were Megan Sanders, Sara Simons, and Mariah Wolford.
Clarissa Myers, Class Salutatorian introduced Steven Craig, valedictorian. Following his Valedictorian Address the Senior High Choir sang "Swing Life Away".
Mikael Wismar, class advisor, introduced Michael Haney, a 1997 graduate of Tidioute High School, who gave the address to the graduating class.
Special Awards were as follows: TCCS Endowment Fund Scholarship, Clarissa Myers, Lita Wolford, and Stephen Craig.
Lions Club Scholarship, Clarissa Myers; William Shields Memorial Scholarship, Clarissa Myers and Stephen Craig; TNT McDowell Scholarship, Clarissa Myers and Kaitlon Silvis; Red Cross Scholarship, Lita Wolford; PA State Championship "Jim Latimer" Memorial Scholarship, Lita Wolford and Stephen Craig (this year the scholarships were paid for by Jean Latimer-Barnes and her daughters in memory of her father-Jim Latimer. Dennis "Shipwreck" Kelly Memorial Scholarship, Shawn Benson; VFW Citizenship Award, John Brown and Kaitlon Silvis; VFW Post 8803 Pequignot-Yeager Scholarship, Sadie Billingslea and Stephen Craig; Daughters of the American Revolution Award, Kaitlon Silvis; George R Harrington Sr. Music Award, Shawn Benson; and the Warren County History Award, Stephen Craig.
Calling of the Roll was by Class Historian Cody Kysor, presentation of diplomas by the Tidioute Community Charter School Board of Directors and Presentation of the Class of 2009 was done by Valedictorian Stephen Craig.
5th Annual
Pig Roast
Approximately 100 motorcycles were parked near Tippy Canoe for the Annual Pig Roast-Customer Appreciation celebration.
Fr. James Reardon did the blessing of the bikes again this year.
Picnic Lunch
Tidioute Senior Center will be hosting a Picnic Lunch on Tuesday, June 16.
Those attending are asked to bring a tureen to share. The center will furnish the meat and beverages.
The Kitchen Band will be entertaining that morning.
Glaucoma
screening
Tidioute Senior Center will be holding a Glaucoma Screening on Tuesday, June 23 from 10:00 a.m. to noon
This is a free testing and lunch is at noon, to have lunch you must call in by 10:00 a.m.
Flea Market
Saturday, June 13 Tidioute will hold another Flea Market at the Fishing Tournament Grounds located at 90 Main Street.
Bring your own table and the cost of a 10 by 10 spot is $15 per table from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Services
The Allegheny Bible Church held services and honored veterans for their military service during a service held at the Swedish Union Church on Sunday, May 24 in observance of Memorial Day.
Veterans who were recognized with a red carnation boutonniere and described their military service were: Bill Johnson-Air Force-1944-1945; Ralph Bush-Army- 1948-1952 POW; Donald McGuire- Air Force- 1972-1976; David Wawrejko-Army National Guard 1989-1995.
Families of veterans were also presented with carnations and offered a time of remembrance and honor of their loved ones. In attendance also were the mothers of those currently serving or who have served in Iraq or Afghanistan and also the family of Warrant Officer Brian McKay, who is stationed in Iraq.
Worship music was presented by Dr. Stephen Johnson of Clarion University, his wife Denise and son Michael. The hymn "Eternal Father Strong To Save" was sung a cappella, "Change Me on the Inside" was accompanied by guitar and bass guitar, and "That's Why We Praise Him" was also presented in worship .
School's out
The US Postal Service would like to remind parents that it is the carriers job to put the mail in the mail box, please do not allow your children to run up to the carriers vehicles and ask for the mail.
For the safety of you children, please don't let them congregate near rural boxes.
Our carriers have a lot to watch out for for their own safety, small children near the road and the boxes makes their job harder.
It is also illegal to remove mail from a mail box that is not yours.

for soldiers
Doris Svitek would like to remind everyone that she needs the updates on all addresses for those serving in the Military.
Information can be sent to her at P.O. Box 105, Tidioute, PA 16351. Items to be sent to the military can be dropped off at the VFW Post 8803.

WW II
re-enactment
Tidioute Borough and Limestone township are working together to hold a World War II re-enactment along the Allegheny River.
Come and see the Battle of the Bridge at Remagen. The German Ludendorff Bridge was the only bridge across the Rhine River that was captured by American Forces during World War II.
Watch as U.S. soldiers drive the German Army back across the bridge. Watch as the bridge is blown up with Pyrotechnics provided by Cartwright Fireworks. And finally the capture of the bridge and the defeat of the German Forces.
This is hosted by the 99th Infantry Division 393rd Regiment, Easy Co. Reenactment Group (Battlebabies) Tidiotue Borough and Limestone Township, sponsored by Cartwright Fireworks.
Camp ground will be located on RT 62 just south of the Tidioute Bridge.
On display will be authentic W.W.II American and German uniforms, equipment and vehicles.
Borough Council
Council broke immediately into executive session for personnel matters. They returned to the meeting and council granted permission for the personnel committee to pick three applicants to be interviewed for the meter attendant position and to make their selection at that time and hire the new attendant.
Police Chief Steve Vincent reported that he traveled 681 miles for the past month and he covered 19 complaints.
Under public comment a discussion was held on the speeding through town once they leave the business district. Action will be taken on the speeding and harassment.
Mayor Pam McLaughlin stated they will get to the bottom of the harassment and clamp down on the speeding.
Dolores Timco reported that the planters have been planted by the students at Tidioute Community Charter School and that three of the planters arrived and were not to her satisfaction for workmanship and the company replaced those three.
Motorist are reminded that school and they need to slow down as the speed limit is only 35 miles an hour through town and you need to be aware of the children running about.
Borough manager Walt Snavley reported they have been working on the landscaping at the new sign at the end of the Tidioute Bridge on the Route 62 side.
Snavley attended the COG meeting and the next one will be on June 25 and he recommended that a representative from the Tidioute Fire Department also go to this meeting as they working with the municipalities and fire departments to try to keep them all up and running.
The bricks have been laid in the walkway to the pavilion in Picture Show Park. Anyone who has paid for a brick and not had their brick placed in the walkway should contact the Borough office or Kelley McKean. Also, they still have 30 more bricks to be adopted and have a name in memory or in honor of someone placed on it. A list will be compiled and kept at the borough office. Bricks are $30 each.
Crosswalks will be repainted and motorists and pedestrians both need to be reminded that a person needs to be in the crosswalk and not on the curb in order to cause the driver to stop for them to cross. Drivers must be alert while driving through town and watch out for the children and others who will be crossing in these areas.
Summer help is needed to help with mowing and cleaning the bay at the Water treatment plant. Council granted permission for Snavley to hire help. Applications can be obtained at the borough office. This is for the summer only and is minimum wage.
Supervised Playground Supervisor has been hired and the supervisor will be Brittany Peters. Peters worked there last year. Anyone wishing to make a contribution to the summer playground can send your monetary donation to Tidioute Borough office, 174 Main St and mark the memo line for Playground Supervisor.
Changes were made to the Nuisance ordinance # 435.
Permission was granted to Deb Genter for a band concert in Picture Show Park on September 23, the band will be Tidioute Community Charter School Band.
McCauley Hill road will be oiled this summer as soon as time permits.
Council appreciates the letters of complaints and concerns, however council cannot take action on letters that have no signature.
Therefore if you want action on your letter, you MUST sign the letter and date it.
Bills for the month were approved for payment.
