Six seniors representing each high school in the Warren County School District were honored Monday by the Warren County Historical Society for their dedication to history.
"A student must demonstrate a greater than average interest in history, as well as Warren County history," said Michelle Gray, director of the Warren County Historical Society.
Gray coordinated with the area high schools to have the history department choose a student deserving of the award.
Each student received a $50 scholarship, a certificate of excellence and a one-year membership to the Warren County Historical Society.
"Education is a major part of our focus," said Tim Greenlund, president of the Warren County Historical Society.
Nate Rosenberg of Youngsville High School said he was excited to receive the award.
"I really like Warren County history," said Rosenberg, adding that he frequents the historical society and has done research for a project there.
The other award recipients were Drew Greenwald, Warren Area High School; Alicia Steffan, Sheffield Area Middle/High School; Erin Wagner, Eisenhower High School; Leah Laird, Warren County Christian School; and Stephen Craig, Tidioute Community Charter School.
