Theft by deception. According to Warren-based state police, personnel at A.R. Beatty Diesel, Inc., 28700 Route 6, Youngsville, reported to Warren-based state police that on May 16 a man came into the store and ordered a 2001 Kubota tractor, a Bush Hog rake and other miscellaneous items totaling $11,581 and made arrangements for the items to be delivered to another local business on May 18. The man was to appear in the store the same day with payment. The items were delivered, but the individual failed to make payment on the order. Police are continuing to investigate.
Cherry Grove Twp.
Probation/PFA violation. According to Warren-based state police, Warren County probation officers arrived at the residence of Chauncy E. Traister, 38, of 6925 Cherry Grove Rd. at approximately 8:15 p.m. June 4 and found him to be in violation of his probation and a current Protection From Abuse Order when a Mossberg 12 gauge shotgun was discovered in the residence and a Mossberg 20 gauge shotgun was found in his vehicle. Police said that a charge of indirect criminal contempt was filed against Traister at District Justice Arthur Zerbe's office.
Elk Twp.
DUI. Warren-based state police reported that while investigating a report of a vehicle in a ditch on Hultberg Rd. at 8:45 a.m. Saturday, Rodney William Wilkins, 28, of N. Marion St., Warren, was found just down the road, unconscious on the side of the roadway. He was found to be under the influence of alcohol and will answer to charges of DUI and numerous summary traffic violations, police said.
Mead Twp.
Crash. According to Warren-based state police, Frank Zaffino, 77, of Clarendon was driving a 2006 Chevrolet Impala west on Rt. 6 at 4:30 p.m. Sunday when he became distracted and failed to see a 2007 Nissan Quest, driven by Phylis J. Struble, 74, of Warren stopped in the roadway preparing to make a left turn at Chapman Dam Rd. and hit the rear of Struble's vehicle. Police reported that Zaffino was transported via Clarendon EMS to Warren General Hospital for treatment of minor injuries. Struble, along with a passenger, Francis S. Struble, 76, also sustained minor injuries, but were not transported to the hospital. Police said Zaffino is being cited for careless driving and restraint systems.
Theft/forgery. Cody Epling, 113 N. Main St., Clarendon, reported to Warren-based state police that last Tuesday someone who was at his residence stole two blank checks and then went to two local banks where checks were forged and cashed. Police are continuing to investigate.
Spring Creek Twp.
ATV crash/unauthorized use. According to Warren-based state police, Jennifer Morton, of 711 Liberty St., Corry, reported Thursday that on May 30 someone removed her 2001 Honda TRX250 ATV from where it was kept at a friend's house on Oil Creek Rd., and while driving it on the road became involved in a crash. Police are continuing to investigate.
