Student from Sheffield part of winning team at intercollegiate woodsmen’s meet

A team of 14 Pennsylvania College of Technology students finished third overall and placed in 12 categories at the recent Mid-Atlantic States Intercollegiate Woodsmen's Meet at Allegany College of Maryland.

During the annual event on April 18 on the Cumberland, Md., campus, Penn College students Katherine Huddleson, Sheffield, and Kelly Tome, Muncy, took first place in the women's crosscut saw competition. The college's other first-place award went to Derek Peterson, Corry, who won the throw-bag competition.

Huddleson also placed second in the women's chainsaw and third in log roll. She is a forest technology major in the college's School of Natural Resources Management.

Penn College finished behind Penn State Mont Alto and Haywood Community College, Clyde, N.C., in the overall standings. The other competitors were host Allegany and Montgomery Community College, Troy, N.C.
