George Michael Eriksen, age 64, of Templeton, PA, died Tuesday, April 21, 2009, at the Armstrong County Memorial Hospital.
He was born on November 21, 1944 in Chicago, IL, to Oscar and Helen (Heuser) Eriksen.
Mr. Eriksen was a selfemployed contractor for many years. He served his country in the United States Marine Corp during the Vietnam War. George enjoyed reading and spending time at the library, and loved to watch old movies, especially westerns starring John Wayne. He took great pleasure in spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Thelma "Jean" (Hardy) Eriksen, whom he married on October 26, 1966; one son, Michael J. Eriksen, Sr. and his wife, Michelle of Corry, PA; one daughter, Stacey Vargo of New Bethlehem, PA; four brothers, Oscar "Ricky" Eriksen and his wife, Lucy of Florida, Fred Eriksen of Las Vegas, NV, Eric Eriksen and his wife, Bonnie of Florida, and Chuck Eriksen of Phoenix, AZ; one sister, Barbara Grumbach and her husband, Fred of Lake City, PA; and six grandchildren, David McIntosh, Montanna Wiler, Michael J. Eriksen, II, Zackery Eriksen, Jacob Vargo, and Sierra Eriksen.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Tidal Presbyterian Church on Saturday, at 2 p.m. April 25, 2009, with the Rev. Sarah Heppenstall officiating.
