GEORGE CAMPBELL

George W. Campbell, born May 20, 1924 died April 17, 2009.

His parents were George S. Campbell and Nina White Campbell. He was born into a large loving family of seven brothers and three sisters, all of whom preceded him in death. Also preceding him in death was his first wife, Dorothy Boyer Campbell.

Surviving are their two children, daughter Linda Clark and husband William Clark; and their two sons, Bryan Clark and David Clark and wife, Melissa, and their daughter, Olivia Clark; and son, James W. Campbell and wife Deborah and their children, Michael Campbell and Krista Campbell.

George's second wife, Arlene Buckley Campbell also preceded him in death. Surviving is her daughter, Connie Schwab and husband, Louis Schwab; their son Louis Schwab and wife, Esther and their two sons, Harding and Owen; and their daughter, Leeanne Tooley and husband, Paul Tooley and their children, Evan and Karah, all of T. or C., New Mexico.

George served in the U.S. Air Force in the 15th Air Force in Italy as an Arial Engineer aboard a B24 Bomber. He was awarded numerous campaign ribbons as well as the Air Medal with Clusters and the Distinguished Flying Cross for his service.

After the war, he returned to his civilian job and in 1950 was recalled for active duty in 1950 during the Korean War 375 Troop Carrier Wing 56 Squadron.

In 1956, he entered the ministry of the United Methodist Church, serving Blackburn, Millerstown, Tidioute, Sheffield and Glassport churches, retiring in 1988. Later, he served a brief term as minister of the Truth or Consequence United Methodist Church in New Mexico.

Friends will be received at the ThompsonMiller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, Pennsylvania from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Sunday, April 19, 2009.

Funeral services were held on Monday, April 20 at 1 p.m. at the ThompsonMiller Funeral, Inc. with Reverend Paul Inks officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may to be to donor's favorite charity.
