Betty J. Hultburg Reed, 85, a resident of the Rouse Suites, Youngsville, Pa. and formerly of Corry, Pa. died Sunday morning, April 12, 2009 at Warren General Hospital.

She was born January 16, 1924 in Gerry, N.Y. and grew up in Chandlers Valley, Pa. After her marriage to the late Donald C. Reed, whom she married September 26, 1959, who died in January 1993, she resided in Corry until 1997, moving to Youngsville.

Betty attended the former Hoff Business College and worked many years at Culligan of Warren. She was a former member of the Corry Memorial Hospital Board of Directors and was a past president of the Corry Memorial Hospital Ladies Auxiliary. She was a member of the Youngsville Senior Center and friends of the Rouse.

Betty's hands were never idle, she was always crocheting, knitting or crafting handiwork for family or friends. One could always count on a homemade gift for any occasion. She was an avid traveler, visiting almost 50 states, plus Fiji, Australia, Panama Canal Zone, Haiti, Ireland and the United Kingdom.

She is remembered by her family as a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, homemaker and beloved aunt. Her grandsons were the "Light of her Life".

She is survived by her son, Edward Reed and his wife Robin, of Youngsville; one sister, Shirley Hultburg Byler and her husband John, of N. Tonawanda, N.Y.; two brothers, Paul Hultburg of Sugar Grove and Jim Hultburg of Pittsfield; two grandsons, Bradley and Brandon Reed, both of Youngsville; several nieces and nephews also survive.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one sister, Mildred Clough; two brothers, Fred and Elwood Hultburg.

Friends may call at the Donald E. Lewis Funeral Home, Inc., 304 East Street, Warren, Pa. on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., where a funeral service will be conducted Wednesday at 11 a.m., with Rev. Steven Gruver, pastor of the PittsfieldOtterbein United Methodist Church, and Rev. Marcus Briggs, Chaplain of the Rouse Warren County Home, officiating. Interment will be in Chandlers Valley Cemetery.
