Smith-Shirley

Autumn Marie Shirley and Dugan Pete Smith were united in marriage at 5 p.m. on December 20, 2008, at Buffalo Presbyterian Church in Sanford, N.C. The Rev. Paul Shields performed the candlelight ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Florence Shirley, of Oak Island, N.Y., and the late Paul Shirley, Warren. The groom is the son of Warren and Gloria Smith, Tulsa, Okla.

The bride was attended by maid of honor Stephanie Svilar, Pittsburgh, Pa., and bridesmaid Nicole Williams, Oak Island, N.C. Flower girl was Victoria Smith, Tulsa, Okla. The best man was Jerry Manus and groomsman was Christopher Asher, both of Tulsa, Okla. Ushers were Michael Williams, Durham, N.C. and Clair Conklin, Oak Island, N.C. The ring bearer was Nicholas Williams, Oak Island, N.C.

A rehearsal dinner was hosted by Mr. and Mrs. Kevin Mead, of Warren, at Elizabeth's Italian Restaurant, Sanford, N.C.

A bridal shower was hosted in Oak Island, N.C. by Rita Laska and Brianna Larson. A shower was also held for the bride and groom by co-worker at the Lee County Courthouse in Sanford, N.C.

The bride graduate from Mercyhurst Preparatory School, Erie, and Allegheny College. She received her Master's degree in criminal justice administration in 2005 from California University of Pennsylvania. She is employed as an adult probation officer for the State of North Carolina and is assigned to Lee County. Her husband graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in 1993. He retired from the United States Army in 2008.

The couple resides in Sanford, N.C.
