Michelle McAvoy of Warren and Stephanie Sponenburgh of Youngsville have been named to the dean's list at Saint Francis University, Loretto, Pa., for the fall 2008 semester. To be named to the list, a student must earn a grade average of 3.5 or better.

Students named to the fall 2008 part-time student dean's list at Jamestown Community College earned at least a 3.50 average, equal to a B plus or better, in six to 11 credit hours of letter-graded work. Named to the dean's list are:

Pittsfield: Mary Kibbey

St. Bonaventure University has announced the following area students have been named to the fall 2008 semester dean's list: Gregory Weidert, business information systems and accounting; Brandon Salerno, management sciences and undeclared business; Chelsey Rashid, biology; Lindsey Culbertson, accounting; and Dominica Luzzi, journalism and mass communication, all from Warren.

Joseph Thomas of Franklin St. and Stephanie Thomas of Pleasant Dr. have been named to the dean's list for the fall 2008 semester at University at Buffalo, Buffalo, N.Y., for achieving a grade-point average of 3.6 or higher.

Melissa Whited, daughter of Russell residents Rodney and Beverly Whited, graduated with a master of science degree from Ithaca College's School of health sciences and human performance. The degree was awarded in December 2008.

Names of students who have made the scholastic honor roll winter term have been announced by Oregon State University. Benjamin L. Morelli, a senior ecological engineering major, was named to the list with a 3.5 or better grade average.

Monica (Fair) Prowitt of Gibsonville, N.C., will graduate from Guilford College, Greensboro, N.C., on May 9 with a bachelor of science degree in criminal justice and forensic science. She was named in the 2008 Who's Who in American Colleges and Universities, and had a grade average of 3.19. Prowitt graduated in 1980 from Warren Area High School. Her dream is to become a probation officer and work in juvenile justice. She is currently a security guard with the Moses Cone Health System in Greensboro. She has three children: Mallory Trawick, Frewsburg, N.Y., and Aaron Trawick and Courtney Trawick of Gibsonville, N.C.
