Any children riding bicycles at night after dark must have headlight, back end reflectors and helmets.

Lenten Lunches

Wednesday, April 1 at Tidioute First United Methodist

Wednesday, April 8 at Tidioute Presbyterian Church

Each will begin at 11:30 a.m. at the respective churches and are open to all who wish to come, there is no charge for these lunches.

Bible Study

High School Religious Ed Classes for Grades 9-12 and Bible Study for Adults at St. John Church will continue from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m Sunday, April 5 and the Easter Vigil, Holy Saturday night will be April 11.

Salvation Army

Camp

Once again there will be an opportunity for Tidioute Youth to attend a week of camp at Camp Allegheny in Ellwood City.

Any youth wanting to attend should contact Arlene Cramer at 484-3395 or Jeri Lee Higgins at 484-2271.

It is best to register early to assure a spot at the camp.

Transportation will be provided to and from camp for those attending.

Chocolate Raffle

Members of the Tidioute Senior Center are selling chances on a three pound chocolate basket from Sarris Chocolates filled with various chocolates.

Tickets are $1 each and 2 for $5 and can be purchased at the Tidioute Senior Center from Doris Svitek and JoAnn Spor.

Easter Stocking

The Pennsylvania State Championship Fishing Tournament is holding a raffle on a six foot filled Easter Stocking.

Tickets are $1 each and the drawing will be on Saturday, April 11 during the Easter Egg Hunt.

If you wish to view the contents of this stocking please stop in at Polly's Market where you can also purchase tickets or purchase them from any committee member.

Winner need not be present to win.

Easter Egg Hunt

The Annual Easter Egg Hunt will be held on Saturday, April 11 at 10 a.m. at Tippy Ballfield weather permitting.

In case of bad weather it will be held at the Tidioute Community Charter School.

The children will be divided into age groups for the hunting of the eggs.

KofC

The Tidioute Knights of Columbus members are selling calendars that run for one year, from June 1, 2009 to May 31, 2010.

There are 365 chances to win and are only a donation of $25 each.

All winning numbers are determined by matching the three digit number of the PA Daily Lottery-PM Drawing only.

This is their most popular fund raiser since they have had so many winners.

All proceeds benefit the Erie Diocese Charities and are ear marked for the Youth Ministries Program.

There are lots of good numbers left-get yours today.

Trash Day

The Spring Clean up day for Tidioute Borough will be held on Saturday, May 2, 2009 from 8 a.m. to noon.

Items are to be taken to the Tidioute Borough Garage at the end of Grant Street.

Garbage is not to be taken there, that needs to be placed at the curb on Thursday mornings.

Cost is $10 per pickup truck load, and $5 per car load. Appliances are $5 extra for each appliance.

NO batteries, tires or cans of paint.

Krispy Creams

Students at Tidioute Community Charter School are now taking orders for Krispy Cream Donuts until Thursday, April 2.

Stop in at the school office to place your order or order from your favorite student.

Your choices of donuts are Glazed for $6.50 per dozen and there are also Lemon Filled, Raspberry Filled, Cream Filled, and Chocolate Iced for $7 per dozen.

Donuts will be delivered Thursday, April 9 just in time for Easter.

All orders are pre-paid. Checks should be written to Tidioute Community Charter School.

This sale benefits Student Field Trips.

Coming Home

Ross Fike, son of Terri and Ed Fike who suffered a severe head trauma in a car accident in November of 2007 is coming home from the rehabilitation facilities.

Since the accident Fike has had three surgeries and has been a patient in Ohio, Pittsburgh, and Erie rehabilitation facilities.

He is coming home to continue his recovery.

His family would like to invite those wishing to welcome him home to an Open House on Saturday, April 4 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Presbyterian Church on Main Street Tidioute.

Ross is anxious to return home and appreciates the support everyone has shown him and his family over the last 16 months. And we all wish him well as he continues to recover.

Tidioute Bucktails

The Tidioute Bucktails will hold a meeting on Sunday, April 5 at the Bucktails Clubhouse on McCauley Hill.

This meeting will start at 7 p.m. and all members are urged to attend.

50th Anniversary

2009 is the 50th anniversary for the Pennsylvania State Championship Fishing Tournament.

A celebration committee has been formed to organize a host of events to commemorate the anniversary.

Chairman for these events is Deb Genter.

There will be meeting on April 6 at 6:30 p.m. at the Tidioute Towers.

A represented from all Tidioute Businesses and/or organizations are invited to attend.

Chairman Genter would like to have input and ideas so this event can be a success.

Library setback

Tidioute Library was, last week, saddened to receive the sudden and unexpected resignation of its librarian, Heather Koech.

Heather has been an able and willing asset in her position and will be much missed.

Her departure has left an immediate void and the situation will take time for the board to assess and begin the hiring process.

Hours during the coming weeks will be limited and posted as soon as possible.

KofC meeting

The councils regular meeting will be held on Thursday, April 2, 2009 at St. John's Center at 7:30 p.m.

All members are asked to attend and bring another member/guest with them.

Sports Boosters

Tidioute Community Charter School Sports Boosters will be holding a meeting on Monday, April 13 at 6 p.m. in the school Cafeteria.

All those interested in the TCCS Sports are asked to attend.

Your input and support is greatly appreciated.

TCCS Update

PSSA Testing has been completed, this is part of the No Child Left Behind Act. Testing took two weeks to complete.

The last two years Tidioute Community Charter School has made the Annual Yearly Progress.

The Drama Club has been busy writing their own play entitled "After Happily Ever After" which will be performing on May 15, 16, and 17 at the school.

Two senior high student attended District Chorus and six elementary students attended District Songfest.

TCCS Prides themselves in teaching with a "hands on" format such as expeditionary projects. Projects this year included students building working robots from household appliance parts and making a topographical map and drilling rigs replicas and they studied our local oil heritage and oil history of our nation.

This year any student in grades 3 through 12 who is on the honor roll every grading period will be rewarded with a special field trip.

A trip to Washington DC for secondary students and a trip to Pittsburgh for elementary students.

The school is hopeful that this will encourage the students to study hard.

SADD, Students Against Drunk Driving, will be hosting a motivational assembly and a mock "Car Crash" before the Prom.

Other Up-coming events include Bring your Little Kids to School day on April 9; Spring Concert for Kindergarten through grade 12 on May 12; Blood Drive on May 13; Senior high Students have a Math tournament at Jamestown Community College; and a Book Fair-Buy-one-Get-one Free on May 15, 16, and 17 at the school.

Soup winners

Sunday was the homemade Soup contest at the Tippy Canoe and Lorraine Zuendel won First Place with her Potato Soup; Polly and Nick took second place with Ham and Cabbage; and Sam Bower with Split Pea and Pizza Joe's Wedding Soup tied for Honorable Mention.

There were ten entries.

Judges were Denny Zuck, Skip Weilacher and Al Hall.

Lions Club

Two new members were installed into the Tidioute Lions Club, they were Shelia McAllister-sponsored by Betty Marshall and Denise Myers- sponsored by Jim Marshall and installed by District 14-F District Governor-Becky Eldridge.

Past District Governor Jim Eldridge gave an update on the District Convention to be held in Warren this year at the Holiday Inn on April 18.

A 50/50 raffle was won by Jim Marshall who donated the money back to the Lions club.

Dinner was prepared by the Presbyterian Women and consisted of pancakes, sausage and cheese omelets.
