Scam. According to Warren-based state police, Michael Hewitt, 48, of Deerfield Township, is a victim of a loan scam from the United Kingdom, as he sent a money order at 12 p.m. March 21 for $550 for a non-collateral fee and did not receive the loan that was agreed upon by the company.
Farmington Twp.
Crash. Warren-based state police reported that Katherine E. Byrne, 21, of Jamestown, N.Y., was traveling east on Jackson Run Rd. at 5:03 p.m. Thursday, when she lost control of her 1996 Ford Contour and left the north side of the roadway. Byrne was treated at the scene by Transcare, Lander VFD and Sugar Grove VFD and was later transported via Lifestar helicopter to Hamot Trauma Center in Erie for treatment of major injuries. She was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, police said, and an investigation continues.
Pittsfield Twp.
Assault/terroristic threats/DUI/resisting arrest According to Warren-based state police, Randy Eugene Hildum, 30, of Pittsfield, was arrested at 9:25 Wednesday and charged with a probation violation and is facing additional charges of terroristic threats, simple assault, endangering the welfare of children, harassment, disorderly conduct and public drunkenness, after he assaulted Jamie Diana Bean, 28 and Courtney Campbell, 25, both of Pittsfield, during a domestic violence incident in which he grabbed, punched and knocked his girlfriend, Bean, to the ground and threatened to kill her and also threatened Campbell, while two young children were present. Hildum then threw a large stone through the front windshield of Bean's vehicle and proceded to drive the vehicle through the yard, striking trees, rocks and stumps, causing a large amount of damage to the vehicle, then drove onto Rt. 6 and Barton Run Rd., where he was stopped by police and became combative with police. He was arrested and charged with DUI, resisting arrest, reckless driving, public drunkenness and multiple summary traffic violations, police said.
