Several local students were honored for academic achievement at the University of Pittsburgh at Titusville, for the fall term 2008.
Named a University Scholar with a grade average of 4.0 was Andrew J. Chase of Youngsville.
Named President's Scholars with a grade average of 3.50 to 3.99 were Leah K. Jespersen, daughter of Jerry and Marita Jespersen of Russell; Klanci L. Larson, child of Stephan and Diana Larson of Garland; and Wallace L. Thompson of Russell.
Named Dean's Scholars with a grade average of 3.20 to 3.49 were Laura A. Cardinal or Warren; Britta M. Haehn, daughter of Timothy and Beth Haehn, Grand Valley; Matthew S. Pascuzzi, son of Richard and Patricia Pascuzzi, Warren; and Christina N. Swaney of Youngsville.

Patrick S. Conklin graduated from the Schreyer's Honor Program at Penn State Erie, The Behrend College, with high distinction on Dec. 19, 2008, with a bachelor's degree in fine arts. He is continuing his education at Edinboro University. Conklin is a 2004 graduate of Youngsville High School.
