In Grand Valley

Trick or treat has been set for 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 1, in Grand Valley. Following this, a Halloween party will be held at Grand Valley Fire Hall with games, a haunted house and prizes.

Grand Valley Volunteer Fire Department also has bingo at 6:30 p.m. each Tuesday. Super bingo is planned for 7 p.m. on Nov. 8. New merchandise auctions are set for 6 p.m. on Nov. 10 and 24 and Dec. 8. Details will be announced on all these events.

Dinner Tuesday

St. Francis of Assisi Episcopal Church in Youngsville will have dinner from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 4. The menu will include beef stew or chicken potato soup, bread and dessert. The public is encouraged to vote then attend the dinner.

Market continues

Warren Farmer's Market will conduct it's final day of the season on Saturday, Nov. 1, from 8 a.m. until shortly after noon. The market opened on July 12 and has been held each Saturday for the past 15 weeks. Up to 25 vendors participated during the season with a wide variety of locally produced goods. The theme of "Buy Fresh, Buy Local" was evident every Saturday morning as witnessed by the large numbers of people who patronized the local vendors. During the season a drawing was held monthly for a $25 shopping certificate redeemable at all vendors.

Movie Monday

Monday Night Movies at the Warren Public Library will continue on Nov. 3. This event is free of charge and will begins at 6:30 p.m. in the Slater Room on the third floor of the library. Complimentary popcorn will be available.This PG-13, 126 minute film stars Robert Downey, Jr, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Terrence Howard. After an accident, billionaire industrialist Tony Stark creates a suit that sustains his life. When he heals, he decides to use his technology to fight crime and leads a double life as Iron Man in this comic book adventure. Please call the library at 723-4650 for the exact title of this and other movies in this series as the library's movie license does not permit listing the titles of movies outside the library.

Auditions planned

Warren Players has announced auditions for its December 2008 production of "Our Christmas Gift To You," an evening of three one-act plays by Thornton Wilder. Auditions for adult actors will be held in the Friends Room at the Library Theatre on Sunday and Monday, Nov. 2-3, promptly at 8 p.m. the three plays, "The Long Christmas Dinner," "The Happy Journey to Trenton and Camden" and "Pullman Car Hiawatha," will be directed by Andy Yurick and will be presented as reader's theater in the Library Room of the Struthers Library Theatre on Dec. 11, 12 and 13. Individuals interested in helping behind the scenes are welcome to stop by auditions to sign up. No previous experience is required. Call director Andy Yurick at 723-0981 for more information.

Bake sale set

Trinity United Methodist Women will have a bake sale during Election Day at the Clarendon Borough Building (Tuesday, Nov. 4).
