Nick and Barb Stanko of Pleasant Township celebrated 60 years of marriage at Surf City, Topsail Island, N.C., on July 13. A surprise celebration began with Mass in their honor at the Outside Catholic Church of St. Jude on Topsail Island. Attending were their children: Denny Stanko and Reb of Kannapolis, N.C.; Michelle Holcomb and Phillip of Pittsfield; and Rebecca Peterson and Randy of Cary, N.C.
Following Mass was an open house celebration provided by their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren at the home where all were vacationing together for the week. Highlights included dancing to a CD mix of their favorite music, a "roast" presented by all, and a DVD created in pictures and music of their lives.
On Aug. 10, they renewed their wedding vows at St. Tobias Church in Brockway with the Rev. Donald W. Trautman, Bishop of the Erie Diocese, presiding. A reception for the celebrants and their guests was held in the parish social hall.
