STANLEY KORBAR

Stanley Korbar, 85, died at 6:10 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 16, 2008 at the Warren Manor following an extended illness.

He was born Nov. 11, 1922 in Gowanda, NY to the late Joseph and Albeena Korbar.

Mr. Korbar had been an area resident since 1946, and was a retired machinist from National Forge.

He was a member of St. Anthony's Roman Catholic Church and a member the Sheffield VFW. He also served in the Army during WWII, earning a Purple Heart. Mr. Korbar enjoyed gardening and polka dancing.

He is survived by his wife, Daisy (Sluga) Korbar, whom he married in Mt. Jewett in 1972.; three sons, Stanley Korbar and wife, Jane, Sellingsgrove, Robert Korbar and wife, Sarah, Sheffield, and Rodney Korbar and wife, Joyce, Youngsville; one sister, Josie Catalino and husband Anthony, North Collins, NY; seven granchildren; one greatgrandchild; and several nieces and nephews.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Dorothy Korbar; two sisters, Sylvia and Albeena; and one brother, Henry.

Calling hours will be held from 11a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesday. Aug. 19, at the BordenLloyd Funeral Home, Inc., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Anthony's, with the Minister Rev. James G. Faluszak, pastor, officiating.

Internment will be at the St. Callistus Cemetery, Kane.

Memorial donations may be made to the Sheffield VFW hospital equipment fund.
