Movie Monday
Monday Night Movies at the Warren Public Library will continue Aug. 11. This free event will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the Slater Room on the third floor of the library. Complimentary popcorn will be available. This 97 minute PG rated film stars Freddie Highmore, Seth Rogan, and Sarah Bolger. From the beloved best selling series of books comes this fantasy adventure about the Grave family who moves into the secluded house of their great, great Uncle Arthur Spiderwick. Once there, they begin to notice strange accidents and disappearances that seem to happen on a daily basis and they begin to uncover the fantastic truth of creatures which inhabit the Spiderwick estate. Sheffield Band Boosters will meet on Monday, Aug. 11, at 5:30 p.m. in the band room.
Reunion planned
The Annual Hoffman family reunion is scheduled for Sunday, Aug. 17, at 1 p.m. at the Marine Corps League on Jackson St. Ext. Participants should take a tureen to share, tableware and an auction gift. Any questions, call 723-7630.
Picnic in Spring Creek
The first annual Spring Creek Old Fashioned Picnic will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 23, at Playground Park, Tannery Rd., Spring Creek. Participants should take hot dogs or hamburgers to grill and a dish to share. Drinks and dessert will be provided. The day will feature games for children and the young at hearse. PARSE plans picnic
The Pennsylvania Association of Retired State Employees (PARSE) will have its annual picnic at noon Thursday, Sept. 11, at Betts Park. Reservations should be made with Diane Tremblay, 723-6373, by Sept. 4.

Warren Community Center, 905 Fourth Ave., will have breakfast at the Plaza at 8 a.m. Friday. All are welcome.
Women to lunch
The Warren Christian Women's Connection, affiliated with Stonecroft Ministries, will have a "Sweet Confections" lunch from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 12, at Warren Holiday Inn. The day will feature homemade candies with Michelle Streich of Clarendon. Speaker will be Jean Pyper form Hudson, Ohio, who suffered an emotional shutdown then, with her Scottish humor and a change of heart, she turned coldness and anger to joy.
