Area Agency on Aging will serve the following menu at Conewango Towers, Warren Senior Center and Warren Senior Community Center July 21-25: Monday, vegetable lasagna; Tuesday, hamloaf; Wednesday, barbecued chicken; Thursday, hamburger hash; Friday, macaroni and tuna salad. Every Monday Warren Senior Center offers free blood pressure screenings at 10 a.m. Bingo will be played every Monday in July at 12:45 p.m.
Check out the summer sale. Come in to the reception area to see what's available, including greeting cards, baby blankets, wreaths, T-shirts, scrubbers, handbags and much more. All items are beautifully handcrafted by members, and all sales benefit the center.
The basement sale is held each Friday from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m.
Biscuits are for sale for 30 each. They are a great pairing with fresh strawberries for the best shortcake ever.
The July monthly dinner will be Wednesday, July 30, at First Presbyterian Church, corner of Third and Market Sts. A delicious ham and scalloped potatoes dinner will be prepared and served by the Kiwanis men, led by Joe Passaro at 6 p.m. After dinner downstairs, participants will go upstairs to the sanctuary and be entertained by the first-rate Elks Club Band. Cost will be $4 per person. Take your own place setting. Phone in your reservations and ride requests to 723-3237. There will be a TAWC bus available for transportation, and a space on the bus needs to be reserved when you phone in your dinner reservation. TAWC cannot accept reservations on the day of the dinner.
Sunday dinners will resume in September.
Quilt raffle tickets are available at the reception desk. This beautiful quilt was hand crafted at the center in the scrap quilt pattern. Stop at the center to see it or log on to www.seniorcenter.com to view the quilt. Tickets are a dollar each or six for $5. The drawing will be Dec. 24.
Using herbs on just about anything will be highlighted by speaker Nancy Yergin on Tuesday, July 22, at 10:30 a.m. Everyone is welcome to join in and listen to Nancy's helpful suggestions.
Are You O.K.? is a telephone reassurance system offered from the center at no cost to participants. This is a daily friendly check-in call to citizens who live alone. To benefit from this service call the center at 723-3237 and add your name to our call list.
Trips and destinations: A trip to the Cranberry Mall is slated for Wednesday, July 23. Participants will leave the center at 8:30 a.m. and return by 5 p.m.
Call to reserve tickets for the Vince Gill show at Chautauqua Amphitheater on Friday, Aug. 22. Participants will take a big bus and, weather permitting, will enjoy a picnic before the concert. Make sure your reservation is in early; only tickets sold will be purchased.
A trip is planned to Branson, Missouri, Oct. 13-20. Call soon while seats are still open.
The journey to Oglebay/Biltmore Estate has a brochure available. Dates are Dec. 1-5, with a stop on the way home at the legendary Longaberger Basket Company.
The Scandinavian/Russian Cruise is planned for June 9-22, 2009. Reservations are being taken, and a signup sheet is available along with insurance forms.
