Dunkirk Mayor Richard L. Frey has issued a proclamation to honor the Rev. Michael J. Parker on the occasion of his 25th Anniversary of Ordination to the Priesthood. In addition to serving as pastor at St. Hyacinth’s Church for 10 years, giving guidance and spiritual inspiration to his congregation, Father Parker also served as Chaplain for the Newman Center at SUNY Fredonia for four years; served as administrator for the Westfield and Ripley churches for almost a year, said a monthly Mass at Absolut Care of Dunkirk, visited the sick in area hospitals and conducted funerals for those without a church. Father Parker has been a vibrant and caring priest and a powerful influence for good in our community. “Whereas he has earned the respect and admiration of all our citizens and justly deserves this public recognition for his many years of service to his parish and to our community; Now, therefore, I , Richard L. Frey, by virtue of the authority vested in me as Mayor of the City of Dunkirk, and on behalf of the entire Common Council and all our citizens, do hereby proclaim today as “Rev.
