Layna J. Gafner, 48, of 10821 Rt. 36, Clarington, Pa. and formerly of Warren, died unexpectedly on Monday, July 7, 2008 at Hamot Medical Center, Erie.

Layna was born May 14, 1960, in Warren, the daughter of Paul R. Griffth and his wife Nancy, Buckhannon, W.V. and B. Joyce Schmoke Chambers and her husband Robert "Ebb", of Sheffield, Pa.

Layna was a 1978 graduate of Sheffield High School and had attended JCC. She was formerly employed at IMT and at various other jobs.

She loved flower gardening, sewing, and enjoyed her children and grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by a daughter, Janessa Shepherd and her husband Jameson, Warren; two sons, Michael Gafner, Sheffield, and Jason Skaggs, Bradford; a sister, Tammy Farnsworth and her husband Jeff, Youngsville; nine grandchildren; and many cousins and other family.

She is preceded in death by her maternal and paternal grandparents.

Friends may call at the Peterson Blick Funeral Home, Inc., 1003 Penn Ave., E., Warren, on Saturday, July 12, 2008 for two hours prior to a funeral service that will be held there at 12 p.m., with Rev. Neil Siefert, pastor, Emanuel United Church of Christ, officiating.

Burial will be in the Pine Grove Cemetery.
