Mildred L. Smith, 66, of Main St., Bear Lake, Pa, died on Tuesday, July 8, 2008 in the Corry Memorial Hospital.
She was born in Bear Lake, Pa on November 4, 1941, a daughter of the late Basil and Anna Thomas Skinner.
Mrs. Smith was raised in Bear Lake. She attended school in Lottsville and graduated from Youngsville High School in 1961. She then married and stayed home to raise and care for her family.
She was a member of the Bear Lake United Methodist Church, a former member of Bear Lake Fire Department. For over ten years, she was a member of the Election Board for Bear Lake, Pa.
Mrs. Smith enjoyed collecting plates, angels, listening to country western music and flower gardening.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Josephine Skinner in infancy and Gladys Volk; by two brothers, Alan Skinner in infancy and Basil E. Skinner, Jr.
She is survived by her husband, Robert D. Smith whom she married in Bear Lake, Pa on August 17, 1961.
Mrs. Smith is also survived by a daughter, Cindy Hancock and her husband, Robert of Waycross, GA; by two sons, Gordon Smith of Bear Lake, Pa and Kelly Smith and his companion Crystal Sheldon of Celoron, NY; by four sisters, Betty Skinner of Ripley, NY, Hazel S. LaCarmen and her husband, Richard of Bear Lake, Pa, Esther L. Jaggi of Corry, Pa., and Marjorie Kopta and her husband, Charles of North Ripley, NY; by four brothers, Ernest O. Skinner and his wife, Ellen, of Kiantone, NY, LaVerne E. Skinner and his wife, Nancy, Clarence L. Skinner all of Bear Lake, Pa and Edward F. Skinner of Jamestown, NY.
Also surviving are seven grandchildren, Jessica John and her husband, Jason, Crystal and Hanna Hancock, Codi, Nicole and Ryan Smith and Heather Christenson; by four greatgrandchildren, Jasmine, Christine and Malachi John and Xavier Hancock; and by many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Bracken Funeral Home, 315 N. Center St., Corry, Pa from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday and may attend a funeral service there on Friday at 11 a.m. with Rev. John Zimmerman officiating.
Burial will be in Bear Lake Cemetery in Bear Lake, Pa.
