Golf results

The team of John McHenry and Terry Wilson were the overall winners with a low of 56 Sunday in the Blueberry Hill Golf Course 2008 Al Hills Memorial 6-6-6 Tournament.

Roy Swanson and Boony Bennett and Jim McMillen and Marty Grove tied for second at 58.

Cory Rasch, of Clarksville, Tenn., keeps a tight grip on a bucking bull at the Battle on Bull Mountain PBR rodeo event at the Hickory Creek Wilderness Ranch Friday night. Rasch hit the dirt before the 8-second whistle.

McHenry and Wilson were the Alternate Shot winner; McMillen and Grove the Best Ball winner, and; Swanson and Bennett the Scramble winner.

The team of Ryan Nuhfer and Joe Errett earned a skin on hole No. 3, and Joe Nelson and Craig Bennett on hole No. 16.


Patti Swanson had low gross of 43, and Georgie Campbell had low net of 35, in Thursday Morning Ladies Golf League play at Cable Hollow Golf Club.

Third Flight: Low gross- Georgie Campbell 60; Low net- Georgie Campbell 35.

Fourth Flight: Grace Kern 63, Mary Lynn Salerno 69, Sue Lamb 69; Low net- Phyllis Broadbent 40, Betty Elicker 40; Event- Phyllis Broadbent.

Ed Kavanaugh came in first place with the low score of 67 on Saturday at the Conewango Valley Country Club 2008 President's Cup. John Deppas and Bob McGinn tied for second place with 68. Scott Christensen, Bill Emerson, Tom Michos and Gary Evans all tied for fourth place with a score of 69.


Dick Barrett, Mike Dexter Jr., Nate Haley, Linda Lindstrom, Warren Moore and Jim Scalise were all 4-0 June 30 in the Warren County Horseshoe League at the Warren County Fairgrounds.

Moore is the point leader at 78.17, Barrett at 70 and Haley at 64.89.

Moore is also the top ringer at 56.88 percent, Barrett 46.43 and Haley 42.32.

On the season, Jean Olsen is the win-loss leader at 22-5-1, Barrett 19-9, Kelly Haley 18-9-1, and Moore 18-10.


The Jamestown Area Old-timers over-50 baseball team defeated the Sheffield Sports Boosters, 5-4, on Saturday at Diethrick Park in a n0n-league game.

Kevin Swanson was the winner on the mound with seven strikeouts. The Old-timers tied the game at 4-4 in the bottom of the sixth inning of an eight-inning game with a bases-loaded double by Warren's Larry VanCise.

Warren's Ron Thomas drew a walk in the eighth for Jamestown and pinch-runner Ted Morrison of Warren scored on a double down the first-base line by Wendy Berg for the go-ahead run.

Sheffield's Scott Rudolph and Jimmy Hahn had two hits apiece.

Area racing

Sugar Grove's Jay Groves won his heat event and placed second in his Microsprint division feature July 4 at Mercer Raceway Park.
