July 5, 2008
FALCONER — Janet Vanstrom, Falconer Rotary Club immediate past president, gave a presentation to Ross Grange at its recent meeting. She told of important events during each decade. The club recently celebrated its 70th anniversary, with Fred Mattison being the only remaining charter member. Details were given regarding the Falconer Park project and future plans. She thanked grange members for participating in the park project and other projects they have been involved with. The Ross Grange was given the Paul Harris Award by the Rotary Club a few years ago. Barbara Holman said more than 50 stuffed animals have been completed and will be given to area fire departments for children in trauma situations. Leona Peterson, family advocacy chairwoman, reminded members of the various craft projects which will be judged at the county picnic in August. Members voted to supply backpacks for children in the Falconer school system. Mary Jane Griffith is chairwoman of the project. Plans for the display booth at the Chautauqua County Fair were made. The theme will be ‘‘Garden of Memories.’’ The group will meet Monday, July 14, to install its officers for the coming year.
