QUAKERTOWN, Pa. (AP) — A nearly century-old theater and movie house in suburban Philadelphia is being reborn as a craft beer pub and restaurant.
The (Doylestown) Intelligencer (http://bit.ly/1jy3zIB ) reports that a local developer is revamping Quakertown's Palace Theater into the Quakertown Brewing Co.
Co-owner Alicia DeMarco says the restaurant will offer beer brewed on the premises along with pub fare from local farms.
The Palace Theater was built in 1922 and hosted vaudeville shows and later silent movies followed by talkies. It became an appliance store in the 1970s but has been vacant for the past few years.
As part of the new brewery, silent films will be projected onto a 20-foot back wall.
DeMarco says she hopes for a grand opening in spring 2015.
