Free recital
Jessica VanOrd will present a free casual recital at 3 p.m. Sunday, July 13, at North Warren Presbyterian Church. VanOrd, a professional voice teacher in North Carolina, will perform some of her favorite selections from the sacred, secular, folk and theater genres. VanOrd grew up in Warren County and returns during the summer to teach students locally in a variety of venues. The public is invited.
Driving class set
A renewal course will be offered for AARP Safe Driving at Warren Community Center, 905 Fourth Ave., for only four hours, 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 24. Checks for $10 can be addressed to AARP upon sign up. Call 723-4180. Al Harrison will be the certified instructor.
Movie Monday
Monday Night Movies at the Warren Public Library will continue on July 7. This event will be free of charge and will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the Slater Room on the third floor of the library. Complimentary popcorn will be available. This 91-minute PG-13 rated film stars Eduardo Verastegui and Tammy Blanchard. Jose is a chef at his brother's Mexican restaurant in New Your. Tammy is a waitress there who finds herself unexpectedly pregnant. When Tammy gets fired for being late Jose inexplicably leaves with her sacrificing his job. The two spend an incredible day discussing their future and with Jose's loving parents who show Tammy the healing power of family. Women to lunch
The Warren Christian Women's Connection invites all local women to a "Dogs to the Rescue" luncheon form 12:30 to 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 8, at Warren Holiday Inn. The day will feature Barbara Ruhlman of New Hope Assistance Dogs and speaker Suzanne Updyke from Johnstown on "A Summer to Remember." Music will be provided by Vi Birchard. PARSE to meet
The Pennsylvania Association of Retired State Employees (PARSE) will meet at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 10, at Warren Senior Center, 800 Pennsylvania Ave. W. All members are encouraged to attend. Refreshments will be served.
Sylvania picnic
All Warren and Titusville Sylvania retirees (GTE & Osram, hourly and salary) will have a picnic from 1:30 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 23, at Sheffield Rod & Gun Club.
