June 30, 2008

EMPORIUM - Fast starts are becoming the norm for the Warren Girls Majors all-star team.

Five days after jumping out to an 11-0 lead in the postseason opener, Warren scored 13 times in the first inning of Monday's 23-0 whitewashing of Cameron County in Emporium.

Shana Grosch connected for a three-run double with the bases loaded in the first to get Warren going and Hannah Vile had Warren's key hit in the second inning, a two-run triple.

Warren's Alexa Bupp was masterful on the mound pitching a no-hitter and striking out nine. She was equally as impressive at the plate with a 4-for-4 performance, including a double and triple.

Grosch also ended 4-for-4 and Kaitlyn Ishman and Lauren Frazier had two hits apiece.

The Warren team returns to the field on Thursday, hosting an opponent yet to be determined.
