June 24, 2008
Dean Wells, reporter
The Industry Club of Warren County ended its school year with a bang last month.

Youngsville Elementary Middle School’s Industry Club won first place for its presentation in banking and finance in Titusville when all the Industry Clubs in the Northwestern Pennsylvania Workforce Investment Board Region gathered for a day of career education activities.

Sheffield’s Industry Club also participated in the event, giving a presentation on health careers.

The School to Work Partnership has sponsored the Industry Club of Warren County program over the last four years. Grant funding for 2007-2008 was obtained from Venango Training and Development Center.

The Industry Club program is held after school for 10 weeks at Sheffield Area Middle High School and Youngsville Elementary Middle School for students in grades seven and eight. The students learn about careers, soft skills training, leadership training, life skills, etc. Students create career games, presentations and complete a club scrapbook and bulletin board.

Club advisors at Youngsville are Shannon Linkerhof and Kristi Bennett. Club advisors at Sheffield are Tanya Bonfiglio and Ginny Elms.
