Bob was born May 4, 1926 in Hazleton, Pa., son of Ernest and Agnes Sargent Glarner. He was raised in Hazleton and after graduating in 1944, enlisted in the U.S. Navy.
Upon receiving an honorable discharge, he enrolled in Penn State and graduated with a degree in history in 1948.
Immediately thereafter, Bob began teaching at Smethport High School and then moved to Warren in 1959 to teach at Eisenhower High School.
Accepting a government scholarship to continue graduate study in guidance counseling, Bob moved the family to Wyoming in 1964 and received his Masters degree the following year.
He returned to Warren to become a counselor at Eisenhower and eventually retired in 1985. He was the voice of an evening radio program on WRRN from 19601964, sharing his love of big band music.
For many years, Bob volunteered his time at the Warren Library, was an active member of Trinity Memorial Episcopal Church, enjoyed extensive travels around the world and was an avid Penn State football fan since 1945.
However, most people would recognize him for his ultimate pastime, riding his Honda motorscooter around town (throughout the year.)
