Volunteers Improving the World
POSTED: May 24, 2008
Ophelia Project
The Ophelia Project of Warren County is seeking adult volunteers to work with high school mentors at Youngsville and Eisenhower high schools. Also, a male leader is needed to work with the Warren High School mentors (boys). Leaders are expected to attend the training sessions with their mentors and help prepare them for presentations (to students in grades six through eight during the school year). Also needed are volunteers to help develop Cool To Be Kind curriculum, a volunteer coordinator, and a special events planner.
We believe that “kids mentoring kids” is a powerful way to build assets and accomplish our mission to create a culture that is emotionally, physically, and socially safe for our youth. Contact Diane Scarcella at 723-8691 or Scarcella@atlanticbb.net if interested.
Helping kids
Become a CASA volunteer and be rewarded with some of the most powerful and fulfilling experiences you can find. CASA is the only organization that empowers everyday citizens as appointed “friends of the court”. Volunteers fit well with the court as the American Justice System is built on juries; a body of citizens sworn to give a true verdict according to the evidence presented in a court of law. In 1990 with the inclusion of the CASA Program in the Victims of Child Abuse Act, Congress affirmed the use of volunteers in our otherwise closed juvenile court systems and made provisions for the growth of our volunteer movement nationwide. Locally CASA of Warren and Forest Counties has 23 volunteers serving 23 children. Your involvement will make a direct impact on a child’s life and perhaps generations to come. CASA of Warren and Forest Counties welcomes volunteers from all cultures, professions, ethnic and educational backgrounds. If you are interested in learning more about how you can help contact CASA of Warren and Forest Counties at 723-4434.

We are interested in offering our residents woodworking projects, stamping and scrap booking classes and art lessons. Residents also would enjoy cooking demonstrators for “live” cooking shows. Help with the bell choir and rhythm band would also be much appreciated. Red Hat chapters are welcome to join us for a meeting as we get our own chapter off the ground. As always, musicians and entertainers of all types are welcome to give performances. Call Terry at 563-6703 for information or email terry_williams@rouseestate.org.
